Nah, we know he survived since Khepri saw him with both of the Ashleys and they both survived so presumably he did. I think. I might need to check.

I can't help but think he'll be pulled out at some point as a quasi-Endbringer or Echidna-type figure.

I think Dinah is the mastermind behind them not because she wants to be, but because that way no one else takes that position so she can minimise the damage they actually do.

Though, come to think of it, do we care about Cryptid? I mean, Kenzie does, but there hasn't been much to get Victoria or the reader emotionally invested in him. Hopefully the next interlude accomplishes that, because as it stands this is only worrying from the standpoint that he might screw them over in some way. It's not the gut-punch that Kenzie waling off with Monokeros would have been.
