The intro alone tells you what kind of experience it's going to be.
You can see all the actors thinking "I'm getting paid for this, I'm getting paid for this...".

Well, probably.
Unless of course, you like crappy sitcoms with tons of padding.
This padding is concluded, but not limited to stock footage, weird musical interludes, an imperial investigation, the worst animated star wars episode in history, an annoying kid-wookiee, an old wookiee watching the most boring porn ever conceived, han and chewie having an homoerotic moment, leia giving chewie the "look", luke being an idiot, Harrison Ford desperately thinking about his paycheck, a sleazy merchant, poor cooking advice and weird ending with some kind of wookiee cult and Leia singing.
To add insult to injury, the special effects suck, the props look like they were rejects from episode 4 and the scenery looks cheap or is drawn.
The true achievement is that it manages to be all this, without being entertaining at all.
It's not so bad it becomes funny. It's just bad. Tedious. Boring.
To end on a positive note: The reused footage from episode 4 was the best part of the special.
It's one of the few movies that makes you wait in anticipation for the next sliver of stock footage.
The time you spend watching this is completely wasted.
They probably torture people by making them watch this.
The only valid reason to watch it voluntary is to complain about it later on the internet.
So if you want to complain about it, go ahead, watch it. But you've been warned.

Stuff just happens to the characters.
Nothing they do actually matters.
That's just bad storytelling.
Also, R2 is of model all the time,
there are those weird baloon-things used by the the ships,
an y-wing with a build in speeder thing (WHY?),
A disease that coveniently only works on humans
and the fact that the rebel alliance has enough time and money to make an animated series of it's heroes.
I wouldn't give that drivel to an annoying flea-bag.

I'm not saying its the pinnacle of Star Wars animation, but it is 100% the most enjoyable part of the special (not a very high bar, sure, but still)...

My choice would be the guys from KOTOR I & II. Revan, Malak, Kreia, Nihilus etc. The entire story is great and could easily be canon since it's set thousands of years in the past. Maybe change it a bit to connect with the Jedi archaeology as Disney wants it to be.
