Linkin Park Singer Chester Bennington passes away at 41.

Postby Nirvash Type TheEND » Thu Jul 20, 2017 11:58 am

https://www.tmz.com/2017/07/20/linkin-p ... s-suicide/

Law enforcement sources tell us the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM.

Chester was married with 6 children from 2 wives.

The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.

Chester was very close with Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide by hanging in May. Today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Chester wrote an open letter to Chris on the day of Chris' suicide.

The band has had a string of hits over the years, including "Faint," "In the End" and "Crawling." Linkin Park crossed music genres, collaborating with Jay-Z.

----

Regardless of your feelings about Linkin Park or Chester on an aesthetic level he was a giant of the rock world and his contributions to music are undeniable. We lost one of the best today.
Unreachable.

I'm so tempted to make a joke based on the lyrics of his song but, I'll refrain from doing so.

I was going to post the tragic news about his death in the general music discussion thread.

As a person who is also battling with depression, it is very sad to see one of the lead singers of one of the most well-known indie rock bands lose the battle against depression.

Rest in peace. I know its cliche.
I dont really listen to Linkin Park nowadays, but back in high school, they were all I listened to. Going through bullying in school, they were my scapegoat. Linkin Park played such a huge role in my life. So Chester, long but never forgotten. :meh:

I don't really listen to their music anymore, but it's still sad to hear this passing.

I don't really listen to Linkin Park but I kind of like "Numb" and maybe "Castle of Glass". Anyway, RIP.

He committed suicide on his friend's birthday.

Definitely not a coincide, which just makes it even sadder.

RIP Chester & Chris, two great artists who helped to influence two whole generations of music lovers.

After hearing this I've become so numb.

These wounds just still won't heal.

But in the end it doesn't even matter.

Seriously I was listening to them just last night. I'm devastated. Linkin Park got me into music.

We have two threads about this. It's sad news, and Chester definitely deserves to be mourned, but we don't need two threads. Please use the thread in NSG if anyone has more they want to say: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=419086

Thanks.
