I ran it (Barely) on an integrated graphics card. I suppose it all depends what you're planning on getting out of it.

If you plan on getting a fun experience you may want to reconsider buying it.

Correct. Medieval II, or hell, even Rome are better. Rome is pretty unbalanced, and Medieval adds even more good stuff, plus has lower system requirements. I enjoyed Empire: Total War, but I have sunk much more time into Medieval II, even since buying Empire.

My vote for their next title is either Medieval III (many good upgrades in Empire, but the over-all product was lacking), or Shogun II, because Shogun deserves a remake.

1) Start --> Run --> "dxdiag" --> Tell us everything.

2) No, it won't run.

3) Look at the box, it has the SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS RIGHT THERE IN YO' FACE! D:<

In all honesty, it probably will run. I have a GeForce 6150LE card and I can run some pretty banging games, I'd imagine an old game like Rome: Total War would run just fine.

I dragged along, but the Grand Campaign map was still fun, and I could struggle through battles at time and still enjoy myself. Of course, now I have a proper computer. :D

Rome? He said 'Empire'.

Medieval II has Russians as well. Additionally, if you look a bit closer, "Napoleon" is the expansion pack for Empire, and personally, no I wouldn't recommend it. On the whole, fun game. But knowing what I know now, and how I feel about it in hindsight, I would've saved my $60 (bought the slightly better jazz), and bought Fallout 3 GOTY or something. I know their not the same game type, and I'm sure you're not looking for Fallout 3, just saying.

Medieval II was a much better game, I think.

so you think empire? because i love medievel games but i'm kinda looking for a more colonial era game. This would be my first total war game. I may look into buying Medievel 2 later.
How much will empire cost?

Actually, I would recommend against Empire. Waiting for it's release I got myself pumped for the different era (though Medieval is my favorite, personally). Even still, the gameplay was just not as good. I thought that the game that was better, eras notwithstanding, was Medieval II. If you prefer the Medieval period, even better.

I expect that Empire would probably run about $40, and I believe the expansion (Napoleon) is about the same, as it's pretty new. Medieval II, if you shop around will probably run you about $20 for the Gold Edition that will include the "Kingdoms" expansion (though I really didn't care much for the expansion, it does add some nice functional changes to even the standard Grand Campaign, which is pretty much all I play).

So I would strongly recommend Med. II, if you are asking.

Is there an expansion besides napolean for empire? In medievel 2 do you have provinces and stuff like you have on Empire?

Both Med II and Empire each only have one expansion. Provinces have been a feature of Total War games since Shogun: Total War (the first TW game made). Shogun and Med (I) had armies move/operate on the map similar to like, a risk game, whereas in Rome (and Med II, and Empire) armies can move much more freely on the map. The only really major addition to gameplay in Empire is naval combat, but I'm not a big fan of it myself, sure, it would be nice to have some control in Med II, but it's really not as big a part of the larger picture either.

In the Gold edition, yeah.

You can play as Lithuania, Poland, the Teutonic Order, Venice, England, Wales, Spain, the Aztecs, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark...

Hell, you can pretty much play as almost anyone in Europe with the expansions. (Personal favorite is the Britannica Campaign)

Napoleon is an expansion to Empire.

And in the standard game itself, you can play an even broader number of factions, including Russia proper. Some factions not listed here: The Moors, Egyptians, Byzantine Empire, Turks, Portugal, Milan, Hungary. Pretty much every major player in Medieval Europe with two exceptions; you cannot control the Papal States (though you can interact specially with them, if your nation is Catholic), and you can't play the Mongols.
