Anyone else a fan of Cities Skylines?

Decent game, but it constantly crashes on my computer. I usually tend to build Euro-style cities. I especially like the Finnish house building set.

It's a great game! I like it more than SimCity. Also, I do not like building big cities. I take my time, and try to craft nice, clean towns. Do you use a lot of mods? That crashes my game.

Yes, that's one of the huge problems I've encountered.

Yeah, though I hate how major assets to a city builder are all DLCs in Skylines. Simscity had DLCs but you at least got disasters and tourism stuff with the base game.

You can buy it on Paradox's website or Steam -- I'd go with Paradox's website, because then more of your money actually goes towards the developers, Colossal Order. There are a few DLCs out as well you should look at. And then there are lots of mods on the Steam Workshop -- it's very moddable.

So no way to play for free? No app or anything?

No free way. It just had an Xbox One release, though. I think they just released a Windows 10 version too, to coincide with that, so theoretically you might be able to put it on a Windows Phone, but I think running it would probably cause the phone to burst into flames. It's a fairly meaty game in terms of its simulation.

I guess I'll have to get it on steam for my birthday in August.

I'd, again, recommend getting it off Paradox's website if you can and then inputting a Steam key. They usually have it go on sale at the same time and for the same price as Steam does, and if you buy it off Paradox's website then all your money actually goes to Colossal Order and Paradox instead of Steam taking a cut, so you're doing more to support the game.

Do you know when it might be on sale? And It would be easier for me to get it for steam, as my parents can simply get me a steam gift card.

I love the game.

You can make sprawling cities, small towns, and everything in-between.

I once made a small town with the concept that it was being run by a crazy mayor. I had fun with that one. Wind turbines in the middle of downtown are oddly cool-looking.

It'll probably go on sale during the Summer Sale, which should be within a month or two, I think.

No. Steam does have a policy where you can refund it within the first, I think, 7 hours of playtime if you end up not liking it, though.

Somewhat inaccurate, After purchase you have a two week time period and if haven't played it for more than two hours, you are eligible to get a refund

I dream if building whole cities, but I envisage needing at least a region of 4,096 km2 or greater to portray London or Paris at its maximum (that is to fit in the M25/A282 or A104/N104 ring roads respectively).

Edit: 4096, not 64 (which is the square dimension).

I dream of online multiplayer, but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon or at all

A fan of the game, the traffic mechanics not so much, I've spent far too many hours trying to keep the streets from clogging up.

Same here although replace "Finnish" with "British". Have a lot of difficulties running it though.

Also, my greatest criticism is the maps. It doesn't take long to fill them up and reach deadlock with it all.

IMHO nothing quite matches let alone surpasses SC4. If they could take that game and just update the graphics and add only the minutest of details from the newer SC (like resources, etc) or even some ideas from City Skylines (running water, etc.) then I'd be pretty much happy ever after.
