Well, that last thing. I mean Riot was a boring villain, as was the cliche "Eliminate humanity to save the environment" guy he was attached to. Carnage is a wackadoo attached an ever more wackadoo serial killer played by a much better actor. Ergo, it will be superior.

It’s the first movie. This is why you can’t do Venom outside Spider-Man/the marvel universe. Outside of that it’s just uninspired variants of goo monsters trading one liners.

Unless it's about Carnage being used by Baron Mordo the bring Dormammu to this dimension with cameos from War Machine and Tony Stark.

I don't know how I felt about that suggestion so I'm going to retroactively decide I agreed with it even though I probably just went, "huh." Though it still isn't 'official'. I was pretty convinced that Nightmare was actually official and not just people like me being certain and not actually...certain.

Shriek is cast in it, maybe they'll do some version of Maximum Carnage. Without, I assume, Demogoblin, Doppelganger, Captain America, Iron Fist, Deathlok, definitely not Nightwatch (who is definitely not Spawn, honest...). Maybe on Black Cat and Morbius but probably still no. And no Spider-man.



...maybe just the Carnage/Shriek team up and not really Maximum Carnage. Which is fine. Ultimately Maximum Carnage is a silly story. Honestly. most of the symbiote stories are silly. Klyntarians are silly. There, I said it.

Well, Black Knight is wearing a modern jacket so he's not just in the past. That's the last I had heard, that Kit whatever his last name is was seen in a period shoot. He's probably been seen since then but I missed it. It does increase the chance that he'll take up his role in The Avengers.

That's pretty much all I know about The Eternals so I'll wait for the endless barrage of breakdown videos to tell me what I missed.

I'm thinking "brief origin sequence" followed by "montage" and then "movie takes place almost entirely in approximately the present" = "spans thousands of years".

The only important thing, I think, is whether or not that bay where they're doing the uni mind/gold tendril thing is in California. If it is, that's probably means the plot is about the Dreaming Celestial... I'm seeing people point out that they're doing a Collected Edition and the Dreaming Celestial was involved (seeming briefly) in the Gaiman arc.

So, I was a Marvel reader way back, but I have no idea who these people are or why I should care. This trailer didn't do anything to answer either of those questions.

They're Thanos' race.

Ok, so Jack Kirby got fed up with Stan Lee taking credit for his work and DC knew about this which lead to them successfully poaching him, this lead to the creation of DC's 4th World/New God's Saga. Well Marvel wasn't particularly happy that he left so they gave him a bribe which was his own comic series in the same vein as 4th World, a deal which he accepted.

This is what The Eternals are. They are a cousin of humanity that was kidnapped and experimented on by The Celestials and given their own planet in another solar system, and were given the job of protecting Earth. However, they got into a conflict with the Kree that forced a few of their ships to land on Titan, where they decided to start a colony to keep a closer eye on Earth. It was this colony under the control of Uranos that became the birthplace of a lot of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations, including Thanos who would later go on to destroy the colony and try to kill 1/2 of all life in The Universe.

Nah, teasers are supposed to generate audience buy-in. I think you're thinking of sizzle reels.

Mystery/Intrigue is a valid marketing strategy... I just don't think it was the right call for this property.

Well, unfortunately that isn't the case me for. I've seen him in enough stuff (Franklin And Bash, Adventure Time, Stuber, that crappy Men In Black movie with Thor in it) that this is gonna be a hard sell. Just like when they tried turning Jim from The Office into an action star.
