Eh. The difference between Avatar and Endgame is a little under 600 million. A week at most, I'd say.

Maybe he'll go back to Giant Peter Dinklage and make a Stormbreaker 2...or I hope he does. I never liked that they made Stormbreaker into a big ass ax when it's supposed to be a Mjolnir sized weapon.

Thing is, a movie doesn't gross the same amount of money in its second or third week as it does during its opening.

Next week would be its third weekend, which is sort of how movie are aged. It did experience a @60% drop from opening weekend to this one, that's still good for another 145 million on domestic receipts alone, and domestic totals are only about a fifth of the total box office. With 2.1 billion in the first two weeks it can fall off pace and still hit $600 million by next weekend. I don't know if it will or not, but it seems like it's really just a matter of time.

Currently 42 in adjusted dollars just behind Love Story...

One half of the top ten are Marvel movies, 1/5th are James Cameron movies. One each from the franchises Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and the Fast & the Furious. The only non-franchise films are Camerons, and one is based on a historical event and the other will be a franchise.

I have not yet seen Endgame for the record, though I believe I will on Tuesday.

Edit: Don't think I don't see whichever person doing my box office announcement job :p

I think Stormbreaker's so big to emphasise that it's more than just Mjolnir, i.e. it also summons the Bifrost. Which isn't really that useful a feature for a Thor who's completely abandoned his people.

Another visit to Nidavellir would be cool, of course.

So new Spider-Man trailer dropped. Gotta say they’re really trying to play up Mysterio as a good guy but anyone who cause a singer episode of the amazing Spider-Man growing up knows it’s it’s BS. It feels awkward.

Who do they think is gonna fall for that? The fans already know and the dirty normies will be lectured to whenever they talk about the movie.

It’s quite possible he’ll genuinely be more sympathetic here. They’ve certainly altered villain motivations before.

It’s gotta be more complicated than villain who pretends to be a hero. Everyone knows Mysterio is a Spider-Man villain, and I have more faith in the writers than that.

After what they did with Vulture, I can’t wait to see how they develop Spider-Man’s more minor but still notable villains. They’re all pretty one dimensional in the source material.

Mjolnir was a tool and a weapon, designed to create and destroy in equal measure. Stormbreaker was designed to split skulls.
I can kind of see why the two don't look similar.

Is that really not common knowledge?

He’s easily top 10 in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. He’s even got a few claims to fame like his frequent appearances in the cartoons or tricking Logan into killing the X-Men in Old Man Logan.

Sorry if you didn’t know, but I don’t think it’s unfair to say that the average Marvel fan wouldn’t know they were really spoiling anything by just mentioning that.

I certainly didn't know. If most people did know, then it probably won't ruin the movie for me if I don't know though, otherwise the movie would be ruined for every informed Marvel fan.

Since it is common knowledge, the twist probably isn’t that he’s simply not as heroic as he appears. It has to be more complicated than that.

Imagine if he ended up being a straight up hero who just ends up on the wrong side, and the entire film builds up to a turn to evil that simply never happens? He doesn't turn into a villain or even an anti-hero, he just keeps fighting for what he believes in even if it means fighting Spider-Man (perhaps because a teenager in a Halloween costume shouldn't be the supreme authority on right and wrong), sort of like Civil War, where there wasn't really a side that was in the wrong, there were just two different viewpoints.
Could that be done well?

I've been figuring that's what we're going to get, something where he turns out to be an anti-hero or the like.

And then the real villain is revealed to be someone like the Shocker, and he’s only there for ten minutes.

Kek.

Though I think the MCU is past the point where comic fans will complain just because something is too different, so that’s good.
