Okay real thoughts. This movie really is Feminism: A Marvel Movie, But I don’t think that hurt the film. A few moments felt a little forced on the nose (like the cockpit gag) but all in all it felt natural to the character. The rest of the cast is great but I found myself going back and forth between hating larson’s acting and loving it. She nails just about everything except the moments she’s supposed to be soldering, came off very wooden and monotone. But when she gets to be snarky badass she lands it like a well snarky badass. Movies a solid 8/10. With an extra sticker cause it’s gonna piss in manbaby’s cherios.

I quite liked it, solid movie had fun. Laughed a lot too, surprisingly funny, Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn were the highlights for that, especially Ben, he was the best part of the movie imo, great performance.

Thought Brie did a good job, couple of scenes felt a bit wooden, but when she was snarky and taking an attitude with people i thought she did a good job.

Jude Law being the villain was obvious from the first time you saw him in the trailer, its just expected that the main characters mentor with sith eyes is going to be the antagonist.

Fight scenes were decent, the one with her hands bound on the skroll ship was great, it was very good. I disagree with Chris Stuckmann on the fight later in the movie, the one where Carol fights two of Jude Laws dudes with the rotating glowy power thing. He said he couldnt make out what was happening but i got it easily.

I also thought Carols friend storyline was fine, wasnt amazing but i dont think it was a waste like i saw other people say.

Special effects were good, odd bit of dodgy cgi but i liked it. Maybe a bit too much of "Hey its the 90s! Do you get it!" but it wasnt particularly annoying.

Fury losing his eye to the cat ("cat") was pretty obvious i think, saw it coming miles away, i saw some people pretty annoyed it and thought it was silly but didnt bother me personally.

Was I the only one who felt like the first 20 minutes of the movie were sped up about a 10%? To me all of the dialogue early on felt extremely rushed like they had sped up the film to make the effects work but broke the dialogue in the process.

I dunno, I think its why I felt her acting was so wooden early on. If they had just given that extra half second for the dialogue to sit, it'd have some emotion to it.

Review bombing the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes has to be the most pointless, self-owning kind of slacktivism. Not only is it really obvious, making it easy to ignore most or even all negative reviews as unreliable, but it also undermines the legitimacy of open-access polls like those. So, in the end, all you manage to do is let the world know that a bunch of extremely online dorks are unreasonably angry about something.

Also, it looks like a few of the totally not mad nerds forgot to properly program their bots, because a bunch of those audience reviews simply read "I_am_Robbie_the_synthetic_comment".

Debating seeing it again actually. Give it another look before I really make up my mind about it, see if theres anything I missed.

First take though it was enjoyable bit of feminist film. Everyone should go see it.

It was a massive expo dump. They hadn't really come up with a too elegant way to get through it so they just rushed through it because there was a lot.

Just occurred to me, got a Dark Phoenix trailer, a Spider-man trailer...even a Hobbs and whosits trailer from "Fast and Furious Presents"...not a Endgame trailer.
I guess they figured that end credits was enough.

Also, speaking of tags. That Marvel Studios logo opening...

Except it's still sitting at 37% even after the wipe. The movie has flaws sure, but it doesn't deserve the hate its getting.

Except it's still sitting at 37% even after the wipe. The movie has flaws sure, but it doesn't deserve the hate its getting.

So I have not been following this captain marvel drama. Why is it getting so much hate?

Asides from the normal preemptive outrage at how a blockbuster movie with a female lead is "SJW feminist propaganda", Brie Larson made some comments several weeks ago about the need for more diversity in entertainment journalism, which malicious grifters and idiots misrepresented as "Brie Larson hates white men and doesn't want them to watch Captain Marvel".

And then another bunch of malicious grifters and idiots, partially out of some sense of tribalism, decide in response that it's the best movie ever.

There has been brigading on both sides, by idiots of all stripes.

Isn't it curious how people will claim they are against tribalism, then pigeonhole themselves into tribes?
