I kinda want Scarlett Johansson and the other actresses to win because Disney is a scummy company and deserves to be knocked down a few pegs.

Emma Stone and Gerard Butler are jumping on the bandwagon to sue for profits they've been screwed out of. Burn it all down I say.

Exhibitors quietly in the background going, "Get 'em..."

Did Gerard Butler have a movie come out at all? I guess he really did get screwed.

No one on New Mutants is probably gonna join in. They got released when theaters were basically closed. But it got pushed around so much it's a miracle it came out at all.
Oddly, independent film has more or less been using this model for a while, pre-streaming even. They found out that people decide pretty much instantly if they're gonna see a movie in the theater or at home so for a movie that needs to start making money just so it can afford to keep pushing it there wasn't a reason to wait. But those movies weren't ever really destined for big box office anyway, they're just on screens for eligibility. I guess that strategy isn't translating well for the tentpoles, which makes total sense.

Speaking of independents and their marketing strategy because why not, I went and saw The Green Knight Thursday night and the field team for A24 was there asking the audience to do a survey that included a breakdown of movies we might want to see in the theaters vs at home. It's A24, though, they have to be really targeted how they release stuff and the current circumstances are probably not ideal for The Green Knight.

I think that movie is going to call people out on their bs about 'wanting something different.' Because it is definitely different. Haven't really had a lot of art house style sword and sorcery movies. Crazy quiet which maybe you don't notice until you're trying to eat popcorn quietly because the sound has dropped out for like five minutes.

How do they have a good case with the pandemic ?
The pandemic would have been a good reason to *renegotiate* the contract, absolutely. Not to just decide they would break it.

Like Forsher said, a pinkie promise by Disney is not the same thing as an exclusive theatre release being central and binding to Scarlet's employment. However Scarlet's law team could make the argument that Disney's promises were a 'contract by conduct' even if it wasn't a formal clause of her employment.

Well, I mean, contracts don't have to be written to be contracts, not even in the States. So there's also that. And that would also explain why there's no juicy quotes being leaked... if the relevant contract was verbal (rather than the initial one which I would be flabbergasted to discover was not in writing).

It will absolutely be funny if all the A listers who can afford long legal battles with Disney unionized, sued and drove the Mouse into bankruptcy.

Gerard Butler's a totally different story... he's arguing that he was defrauded:

Gerard Butler is suing the producers — including parent companies Nu Image and Millennium Films — of his 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen.

Butler, 51, filed a lawsuit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming that he is owed at least $13.6 million in back-end compensation from the action film’s profits.

According to Variety, the lawsuit alleges that the producers had undervalued domestic and foreign receipts by tens of millions of dollars. The Scottish actor claims in the suit that they also did not report $10.9 million that went to its own studio executives.

He also says there's a breach of contract, but the main issue is clearly the fraud allegation.

Yeah, Disney is a monopoly with more money than God. It would take like all of Hollywood suing at once to bring them even close to bankruptcy. And even then, they'd make it back off their profits from the Chinese market.

Rather disturbingly good. I really didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

Finished season 2 of HQ and I'm honestly floored. Like when I picked it up yesterday after seeing it on the HBO app (smart move DC, that exclusive app wasn't gonna go Nywhere) I thought "meh, might be fun." and I didn't have high expectations. But man was it fucking good. Such a poignant exploration of how trauma is an unending cycle that just leaves people broken, all couched in passable humor and gratuitous violence. I can't wait for season 3.

I watched the first episode. It's one of those show that thinks having the freedom to say 'Fuck' every 5 sentences is a substitute for actually writing a good joke. I'm not adverse to a humorous Batman cartoon, I loved Brave And The Bold after all, but this show is just lazy and lowbrow. And overly reliant on the gore gags and swearing.

Yeah you watched the pilot of a new show and thus know everything about it. Just like you did with Clone Wars and knew everything you needed about Ahsoka right? God you're so full of shit Ameri, and I'm done trying to make excuses for you. You're just another edgelord alphanerd who thinks his voice somehow carries authoritative weight on what is or isn't good, and think that passes for a personality. As such you use that to shit on anything that other people like to cope with the lack of joy and accomplishment in your own life. You should watch HQ all the way through, you know why? cause you're in it.

Do me a favor, when you put me on ignore again, leave it on this time.

I watched all of season 1 and thought I knew everything about Ahsoka, thank you very much. And I admitted I was wrong later. But that was one character I had beef with. This is an entire show I have beef with.

Oh, please. One, I'd never wear that shirt because I don't care about the Snyder Cut. Two, I have no issue with female led shows. Three, I've never used the phrase 'Virtue signaling' or 'Cucked' before. And four, I never watched Gotham.

Yeah you watched the pilot of a new show and thus know everything about it. Just like you did with Clone Wars and knew everything you needed about Ahsoka right?

I watched all of season 1 and thought I knew everything about Ahsoka, thank you very much. And I admitted I was wrong later. But that was one character I had beef with. This is an entire show I have beef with.

Admitted you were wrong after fucking years of bitching. And I don't give a shit about your beef. Fuck your beef. You've been wrong enough for everyone in this thread to know your "beef" with anything is a fucking joke.

Oh, please. One, I'd never wear that shirt because I don't care about the Snyder Cut. Two, I have no issue with female led shows. Three, I've never used the phrase 'Virtue signaling' or 'Cucked' before. And four, I never watched Gotham.

Missing the forest for the trees there guy. Everybody in this thread knows that no matter what they bring up, you're gonna find a way to bitch about it and say it sucks. Because that's what you do. No matter how off the mark it is, you're determined to try and suck the joy out of everyone and everything. It's fucking tiresome.
