I think working theory is that JJ and Punisher will get canned at the end of their respective upcoming seasons, then Disney will start it all back up again on their streaming service, once that gets up and running.

This is what people don't understand about violence and death... it is completely and utterly unavoidable. Over on NSG it's really popular to imagine that there's a double standard between sex and violence but there's really not. People project back their first understanding of sexual topics much further back than they go and vastly underestimate the ability of children to understand and recognise death.

The question is usually of the specific depiction of violence and the contexts it comes up in. Luke Cage, for instance, is basically a cartoon character due to his superpower whereas Daredevil treats violence very differently. You can do a lot in a PG world, but you can't do Jessica Jones and you're unlikely to get away with Daredevil on account of, ironically, the visual realness (which you'd think would discourage violence... regardless of what I opened with, violence is perceived as a flaw and undesirable).
