The Dropkick Murphy's first two albums are awesome. So much spirit and energy, and some surprisingly emotional songs like "Far Away Coast". If anyone knows any more bands that make music like that, I'd be up for a rec.

Triumph was my dad's favorite band back in the 80s. He is constantly telling me to check them out, and I constantly tell him "maybe eventually..." :p It has become an inside joke between us. But now that these links are handy, I might just finally give them a listen...

If they're anywhere near the level of Rush, I'll have been missing out for a long time!

That's a nice list. As I read it, half a dozen different songs started playing in my head. :lol2:

Anyone heard of The Automatix. Last summer I was browsing for some vinyls and I saw this, I had never heard of them before but the cover looked so damn good that I just had to order it. I haven't regretted the choice.

Fuck it, Pinkerton by Weezer is a 5-star album. All ten songs are really hitting me. The noisy guitars and heartfelt lyrics/melodies fit together soooo well. First time I've given a new 5* rating on RYM in ages.

Anyone else heard of these guys?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_Zero

They're relatively new. I saw them open at a show recently and thought they were pretty good, so I picked up their album. It was awesome, and I've got some new favorite songs now.

Ooh, rock music! I started with the stack of my dad's hip-hop CDs, and after that, I went to rock. My dad was a huge fan of Guns 'N Roses, and so am I; they're probably my favorite band other than Black Sabbath and Parliament/Funkadelic.

I enjoy lots of the classic rock and roll songs, like Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and Elvis Presley. I've been really liking The Doors, too.
