Yes, you could say that ;)

Do you have a favorite composer?

Debussy probably. I also like Beethoven and Chopin. I'm a sucker for piano pieces.

You like piano concertos?

I love it. We played an arrangement of it for part of our show in marching band junior year and it was a blast. It's what got me interested in brass band music -- I ended up doing one of the community's youth brass bands my senior year because of it.

I personally prefer a dominant brass section in a whole symphonic orchestra for the variety in sound, but I do love the all-brass ensemble. Out of curiosity, do you have a favourite brass instrument?

My own, the euphonium. I just love the timbre it has, especially in the upper range.

Yeah, but not specifically just piano concertos. Any piano pieces really. I like symphonies too, but piano pieces are special to me, they feel very intimate.

If the organ is the king of instruments, then the piano is the prince.

I have faux nostalgia for the days when the piano was a much more common sight in the home. Of course, my repertoire is more Joplin than Chopin, but any piano piece sounds especially good when playing it yourself.

I was just wondering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1dDAs0fZic That is a link to one of my favorite Concertos. It was written by the composer Moritz Moskowski when he was just twenty years old.

True! The organ is really amazing, especially the players. The very nature of the instrument means you have to have ridiculously good legato playing skills.

I had never heard of him before. Then again, there are so many composers out there.

He was a late 1800s composer. He wrote over 200 piano pieces.

I am now the owner of a tres cubano. The tuning reminds me of the ukulele, the shape of the guitar, and the string courses of the mandolin. Very fun, though I'm not quite used to stretching my fingers this much.

How do you folks feel about using electronics in more traditional settings?

Ex: Exigence by Adam Neely

I think it massively increases the potential for older genres to take hold in the present day, and makes room for a lot of innovation.

On the other hand, I've heard other musicians say that it reduces the amount of talent that goes into music, which they consider a very bad thing. I have a friend who actually considers drum machines unethical, because they put drummers out of a job.

I kind of like classical music precisely because it is all manual (not counting more modern stuff). Nothing like seeing a whole bunch of people create amazing timbres through just their breath and hands, or someone playing through the Second Hungarian Rhapsody on the piano.

Hi :3

I play the piano and have been studying on it since... November 2015. I can read notes, and I also play the melodica(In case you don't know it is kinda just like a smaller piano except that it is like a crossbreed of a keyboard and flute, because you have to blow it while playing.)

My favorite pieces are My Heart will Go On and River Flows in You. :3
