The moment when the grand strategy game that is EUIV is used as a casual wind-down after playing a grueling game in a third-person shooter.

I would just like to clarify that i did not genocide 80% of an Avian species in a holy crusade by glassing their planets, i did not, and if any of those fuckers teaming up in a federation to my galactic east say other wise then they are pack of heretical liars.

Any imagery of such events or of battles in this supposed war are also fabrications

EUIV is at its most basic a map painting simulator, so that's not the craziest idea.

I don't think any casual gamer in touch with "AAA" games and the like could possibly look at any of Paradox's historical games and consider it "basically a map painting simulator". :p. They might take more than one look at the interface and menus before running away with their arms flailing, desperate to go shoot something in the face.

Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

They only actually have like 7,000 levies with another couple thousand from their vassal legions.

To me it seems like the problem is the AI always leaves Soissons alone for the most part. In this playthrough they only got invaded a few decades ago.

For me it's that they can easily defeat the Franks because of the number and unit type disparity between the two. I remember in earlier versions Soissons was legitimately challenging to play as because the Franks were always a serious issue.

But in most of my games they go on to be a serious powerhouse in the region.

Mass Effect Andromeda. I think its that one anyway, we have been talking about it lately and i think its the main game she is playing now.

Its been occupying a lot of my gaming time too lately, which is why ive had a bit of a reduced presence here and in in the gaming thread.

Maybe I should get around to playing Mass Effect one of these days.

Alternatively, ignore my vast Steam library in favour of EUIV and Stellaris forever.

Funnily enough, Stellaris really is just Mass Effect as a 4X game.

Yep, Huskar is right, as if there was any doubt. It's a stressful thing to play a brand new game on its hardest difficulty. And that's why the Ottoman's are getting some love.

Funny thing, this is the first time I'm playing as the Ottos in this up to date build of the game, where Byzantium actually tries to defend itself by finding allies. It probably goes without saying that their attempt to survive was still a total failure.

Silly Byzantines, thinking they can coexist with a player controlled Ottoman Empire.

In more than a few of my recent games the Byz has survived into the 16th or 17th centuries by allying Hungary and scaring off the Ottoderps for a while.

They only allied Wallachia and Trebizond in my game.
