Steam Sale incoming...

Postby Kentalia » Thu Dec 22, 2016 1:33 pm

For all those with Steam (The gaming client), the 2016 winter sale has begun!

PayPal teased it a week or two back on their international twitter account, and it appears they were correct to rumor it. This Steam sale will apparently be different to the past sales, because instead of daily sales and flash sales, the games on sale will not fluctuate in % off at any point during the sale, this stops you buying a game one day and the next day it being cheaper than when you bought it.

Most games devs who also sell their games on their own website as well as Steam (Such as Bohemia Interactive and the Arma franchise) will be doing sales on their own sites as well. I would recommend buying directly from the devs if you have the choice, because 1. It supports the developer (Valve take a 30% cut from Steam sales), and 2. Prices may be even lower than on Steam (Valve have a say in Steam discount percentages).

What I want to know from you is: What games do you play on Steam? Are you planning on getting anything during this sale? Have you ever bought a few games on Steam that you've never played?

May your wallets be safe.

My computer is not top notch, so I enjoy playing SuperPower 2 from time to time. Would recommend to people who like political games.

I may have to buy that one, looks good. If your PC isn't great, but you still want some action, try a couple of Valve's older games like Day Of Defeat: Source or Half Life.

Londoners could aim for Train Simulator and the North and South London Lines.

Oh man, love me some KSP!

More recently, I've been playing Dragonball Xenoverse 2, because I am a total Dragonball nerd; and a friend got me Azure Striker Gunvolt for Christmas, which has been scratching my MMX-flavor platforming itch something fierce. At some point I should play some more Skyrim. On the inexpensive end, Race the Sun and Audiosurf/Audiosurf 2 are great little quick plays. Though I tend to play Audiosurf less as a game and more as a zen exercise- playing that on Mono mode with the right songs is a great way to shut your mind up about stuff since you can get so focused on the music, the upcoming obstacles, and the psychedelic visuals that you literally cannot mentally chew on anything else. :P

I have followed up my commitment to the North London Line on the Train Simulator, but it is mainly to analyse what the modelling standards are for this age of gaming. However, they got my area wrong, because there is a main road direct from Highbury to Hackney Central.

Yeah, I know that area, the line is directly underneath the main road, did they use one of the two side roads (One of them starts on Mildmay Park and follows up to Graham Road when it turns around to Hackney, or the other one that starts off on King Henry's walk and ends at Amhurst Road?).

The road I am talking about is the A1199/A104/A1207.
