Is it normal that when I start a new Oblivion character, I always end up choosing Argonian?

Not any less normal than playing only Khajiit in Skyrim or Orc in Morrowind. I don't think I've done a playthrough in Morrowind that wasn't a Khajiit, really.

You know, if you think about it, the Hero of Kvatch replacing and then becoming Sheogorath is a lot like the Santa Clause with Tim Allen.

I only played Shivering Isles once but it was a very fun DLC, had a good time with it.

I dont think i could go back to Oblivion now though, think its too dated for me

In terms of graphics or mechanics? If it's graphics, I'm sure there are mods to make it better you can use. If it's mechanics, can't think of a fix for that.

Personally, I do prefer the look of Oblivion to Skyrim. It's graphically inferior, of course, but I like it's vibrant pallets more than Skyrim's greens, grays and browns.

And yeah, Shivering Isles is great, probably my favorite dlc for a TES game.

It’s fine. Just leave an offering of goat’s milk and a sweetroll on his summoning day, the eve of the 25th of Evening Star.

Both honestly, though probably more about mechanics and gameplay. I dont mind old graphics necessarily, heck im playing c&c remastered lately and switch over to the older graphics at times and it doesnt bother me. But some of the stuff in Oblivion has not aged well let me tell you.

I get that, the leveling system in particular is a mess. I still prefer it to Skyrim though, mostly because I find the stories/characters to be much better done.

I have actually never played Oblivion. Might try it one day.

Also on a side not: if you killed Paarthurnax I hate you and everything you stand for.

I'd recommend it, though it is my favorite TES game so, biased take. If you're gonna get it, a Steam sale would be a good time. The version they offer has all the dlc. And, if you're coming from Skyrim, be aware that Oblivion's stealth archer is pitiful compared to Skyrim, and magic is much more powerful, because you can craft your own spells.

I did kill Parthurnax, once, with an evil character mind you, more concerned about a threat to his power than "justice" or whatever. I really don't understand people who back the Blades, they just seem so wrong about everything, all the time.

One advantage Oblivion has in that is the quest lines aren't so short. Gives more time to develop things. And makes it a bit more understandable when you become the new guildmaster. The College was particularly egregious there.

I have actually never done a stealth archer build. I usually go for a two handed heavy armor build. I did try magic once and it was pretty fun so that would be intriguing.

And yeah I have never liked the blades. Esbern is kinda chill but Delphine is a bitch. She is lucky she is an essential NPC or else I would have tossed her ass off a cliff.
