I got the game last year (Slyrim.) I haven’t been playing it as much lately and it did take me a little while to get into the lore. Still on my first character but I’m on Solstheim. He’s an Imperial battlemage named Hector.

Skyrim. My character has two glowing orbs just beneath their eyes, like a Draugher.

That sounds rad on paper.

First time playing Skyrim in years, and it's buggy. I'm trying to do the Bloodlines quest (Dawnguard), but Harkon's "gift" doesn't give me Vampirism, just the ability to shift into the Vampire Lord, which is rad on paper, but really terrible because now I can't progress through the questline on either side. Uuuuuuuuuuuuugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I've tried using the console to turn into a Vampire (player.setrace nordracevampire) but while that does give me the eyes (and teh ability to progress in the story) it still doesn't give me a weaknesses, nor the actually useful abilities. Any ideas how to fix this? (other than starting a new savegame, ig)

You’re not playing with the Unofficial Patch?

I do have the patch. (It's the fourth, right after the three DLCs, on my load order).

It's been nearly nine years and I'm still not over the fact that Bethesda retconned Nordic culture so hilariously badly that the Nords literally worship the Imperial Cult instead of their own Old Gods.

There might be an ESO Nordic expansion if there isn't one already, but a Skyrim sequel won't happen. The series isn't set up that way.

If your part of the empire it does. The rebellion side has an avalanche that cut off the empire from sending legions into skyrim. leaving Olfric able the prop up his defenses if im remembering correctly

They better fucking not make a “Skyrim 2”. I can’t think of a less intelligent decision to make.

Daggerfall is the best game in the series. Morrowind needs modding to be playable unless you grew up with it. Oblivion is fucking ugly and tedious. Skyrim is fun i guess but its only alive because of mods and bethesda being shit. Haven't played skyrim in months because when i got my new gaming pc a bunch of mods suddenly decided to cause trouble and not let me start the game despite working for years.

Oblivion: "It's very hard to get the local Nords to show up at the chapel of Talos here in Bruma, they just won't have it!"
Skyrim: civil war literally revolving around muhh ancient right to pray to talos

Precisely. The retcon is really jarring when you think about it.
