I really don't think Altmer departments talk to one another as you got Hit Squads after you yet ,you can turn up to a party and the guards don't do shit till you try something.

I mean, seriously. On earth, we define months as the time it takes for Moon to completely circumvent the earth exactly once. generally speaking. But how does this even work on Aurbis? they have two moons for crying out loud.

Most writers are unwilling to change such staples of real life, even if it doesn’t make sense in universe.

Its like asking why the language the game is set to exists in universe.

I don't think those are quite comparable. One is translation convention; the characters aren't really speaking English, whereas they clearly do divide their year into twelve months.

So just got another mod for skyrim the "high king" mod.....and I just realized Why have a high king if the jarls can pretty much do what they want.
I mean a high king should technically be law right?

If they don't listen then take matters into your own hands...just remember to pay taxes to the empire.

I legitimately made a new character, led a revolution against Ulfric, proceeded to take the throne of High King, and essentially created a new provincial government in Skyrim. I probably used a similar mod to the one you’re talking about.

there is no Self-rule. The administration of Half of the country doesn't even want self-rule or autonomy. I mean, they're (mostly) in the Empire's pockets, so of course they wouldn't but that's irrelevant.

The empire was weakened in all but name sure....but with major reformation of its army and government(I smell a communist revolution!!!!) they could rally every province into over throwing the elves. I still think the empire has a very valid reason to exist....HUMANS. We imperials make it so humanity will always be on top. There are some among our ranks who like to forget that the only thing stopping the world from becoming a giant cesspool of humanoid savage beast is the Empire. Not only do we have the right to rule humanity NEEDS us to rule!! Skyrim wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the white gold concordant!!! Sure it was cowardly and rash but we needed to stale for time! Skyrim is physically incapable of self rule!! It populace would instantly be swarmed by the many faction surrounding it.

I'd say the Empire is much more keen on simply keeping the races from killing each other and maintaining peace so that Tamriel can, in fact, be a nice, multicultural continent. I mean, it's definitely not just human centric/human dominating when it has had, for example, Ocato, an Altmer, acted essentially as ruler of it for ten years following the Oblivion Crisis. Not to mention the Empire took great influence from various cultures, especially the Altmer and the Akaviri.
