Given the choice of any region though, I’d really like to see the Summerset Isles.

Summerset will (almost certainly) be the next big expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online. I'm looking forward to it, if for no other reason than to see how they interpret the prose associated with the place. Will we actually see towers made of hardened light and walkways made of rainbows? I'm guessing not, but either way will be interesting.

I don't know if there are any other ESO fans/apologists in this thread since I'm pretty much new to NS but I'll mostly be approaching from that angle, since it's where nearly all of my Elder Scrolls time goes these days (the rest being Daggerfall, actually).

Maybe the Altmer cobble their streets with some kind of rainbow rocks, that'd be different and interesting. As for towers of light I have no idea.

Argonians are the least native a species can get. Hist are extraplanar/alien, not native to Nirn at all. Arguably Argonians rose via the Hist from some native species, but that's murkier than their swamps.

As for everyone else...

Redguards originate in Yokuda, Nords in Atmora, Altmer/Dunmer/Bosmer from Aldmeris, Bretons from Atmora/Aldmeris.

Orcs also would've originated from Aldmeris, as they were originally elves before their (and their god's) transformation. But Orcs as a separate entity from their past selves could be considered native to Tamriel.

Khajiit are argued to be created from the same stock as Bosmer, but like the cat-men themselves, the details are fuzzy and easily misunderstood. They're probably native, though, while the Bosmer decidedly are not.

Imperials descend from Cyro-Nedic interbreeding, so they're partially native, partially not. You could also argue that Niben and Southern Colovian Cyrods are more native than Highland Cyrods, if you wanted to, but unity is more their thing.

In the end, the races merging upon Tamriel fits into the whole meta of Tamriel as the Arena's Arena, a Very Important Place, etc. It's the given of every kalpic cycle, if you're cool with kalpas.

That would be a cute workaround.

It's weird. I say "workaround" like it's impossible to model a street out of rainbow. Mario Kart 64 managed that much. But ESO is quite grounded in "reality" and a lot of the more fanciful aspects of the lore (especially Kirkbride's contributions) are ignored or talked around as rumor/myth, and so the idea of a tower actually made of light is quite bizarre for the game's tone. Not impossible, by any means, though.

I could definitely see Alinor itself having at least one tower of glass/light/some other magickal substance to justify the tales, while the rest of the island is comparably plain (albeit fancier than other regions, as Altmer are wont to be).

I like the Farmer. I feel bad for them, and their underground civilization and its creations are ingenious.

Someday the workers and diggers and Chaurus breeders of the world will unite and overthrow the surface dwelling, sun soaked, Nord bourgeoisie.

The Falmer didn't create any of the underground civilization you typically find them in. They were blinded and enslaved by the Dwemer, and it's the Dwemer who made the various steamworks and constructs you're finding.

Unless you're referring to the tents made of bone and chaurus hide, and their various chaurus breeding pits. That stuff's pretty cool - and surprisingly well-made, considering they have no sight to work with.

The Argonians (if you ignore the whole "rose from the Hist which is not even from nirn to speak of" thing) are native to Tamriel (or at least, they were there the first).

as for The Khajiit, like Isle Vultedis said, the details are fuzzy, but afaik The Khajiit are also not natives. though if we go by the lore they had kingdoms and civilization before the Aldmer started recording their history, so they've been around longer than anyone else.

I don't think Khajiit lore mentions any lands other than Tamriel at any point. Then again, they're nomadic and didn't have much of a written history, so it's possible that their history prior to arriving on Tamriel is just lost.

But if I had to pick a modern race that I was most certain was entirely native to Tamriel itself, I'd probably go with Khajiit.

Speaking of Khajiit, I'd like to hear opinions on something regarding them! Specifically, the myriad forms they can take. According to lore, the state of Nirn's two moons (Masser and Secunda, for those unaware) at birth determines a Khajiit's form, which can range from that of a housecat (with awesome magic power); to a slightly fuzzy humanoid; to the cat-men we're most familiar with; all the way to massive, mammoth-sized tigers. The thing is, no game has actually shown more than one type of Khajiit.

Arena and Daggerfall featured Khajiit as humanoids, and claimed they "descended from" feline predators in some way, with no mention of other forms. Since only the player character can be Khajiit, and the Khajiit featured in books in-game aren't given much description, it's safe to suggest that other forms may have existed at this time and simply weren't common in High Rock and Hammerfell at the time.

It wasn't until Morrowind* that they became legitimately feline, and the idea of Khajiit morphology came into existence. Despite this, only one breed is ever seen on Vvardenfell, and the same is true of every game since.

My question is: how do you interpret this information? For me, it seems more likely that there is really only one "type" of Khajiit, and that this form has changed between games as a result of differing plans for the race during development. No effort has ever been put into demonstrating more than one breed at a time, even in ESO, where you actually visit Khajiiti lands. You can find Senche, but they're pretty much just (intelligent?) tigers, and it's unlikely that any were born from humanoid Khajiit mating. Senche-raht, Alfiq, even Ohmes and Ohmes-raht (the humanoid forms of Arena and Daggerfall, respectively) never appear or are mentioned.

* This is a trend: things didn't get weird until Morrowind, because that was when Kirkbride was at his most powerful.

Technically ESO has other Khajit breeds as mounts.

I’ve always wondered about the ethical implications there.

It's not exactly a suggestion. The Hist is hinted -almost said- to be Sithis, or born from him, in some way, shape, or form. That means that The Hist, as a concept and as an entity, isn't exactly from Nirn, due to, you know, being a Void entity. or possibly somewhat Daedric. I'm not sure which is true.

All I really see is that the Hist say Sithis is the real OG. Not that the Hist is SIthis or originally from him.

Hist as an alien entity is from The Infernal City novel, iirc.

And the ESO mounts are "senche tigers", considered cousins of Khajiit but not one of their actual breeds. The tooltips are pretty clear on this.

As far as actual Khajiit breeds as mounts, Senche-raht are commonly used as heavy war mounts and are happy to do so. Every breed knows what they are, and what they're best at.

Oh yeah I just found the right page on the UESP. Okay, didn't know the trees were aliens...although, it's not that crazy for TES.

Did a lot of stuff over the weekend.

Fought 3 named dragons

Completed the Dark Brotherhood and Liberation of Skyrim questlines.

Started Dawnguard.

Funny story about that - I discovered the castle before I started the quest, so the gate was shut. Had to use the console and turn off collision
(./tcl)
Then the door glitched so I had to load a previous save which fixed the door so I could enter the castle after...20 minutes?

Did not become a vampire.

Ran around and cleared a lot of caves/dungeons/Dwarven/Dummer ruins

Cleared the Blood on Thin Ice quest(s) in Windhelm (got the house too)

Total hours...I think around 81 right now.

I love this game.

Also had a run in with like around...20 something guards in Mothral.

That was fun.

Made it to the Forgotten Vale!

Have a feeling there's gonna be a huge group of vamps and they already have the bow but you manage to get it from them, but at some price or something.

But it's just a guess.

Markarth got bugged for me once i completed that mission when the game launched. Every time i entered the city any guard i talked to would try to imprison me for the quest so i had to avoid every guard like the plague because if they even so much as began to interact with me the entire city turned fucking hostile.

Lead to some amusing and fun battles, but it was a fucking pain in the ass.

I think it's kinda part of the quest. If you haven't done the 'No one escapes Cidhna Mine' quest, you'll just get arrested whenever you are in Markarth.

This happened to me, except they wouldn’t actually arrest me, they’d just go through the dialogue and then walk away.
