As soon as the Empire admits that Talos is a real god and they should stop playing lip service to the Elvish Inquisition.

I know, I'm on my fourth playthrough.

I just think that this debate about Stormcloaks has reached its zenith five years ago and there are no interesting avenues to explore. At some point we just have to let the people defending the in-text racists live.

Seems to have worked fine. If you ignore what happened in Hammerfell, Skyrim, Elsweyr, Valenwood, and the entirety of the Great War...

Thing is, a war between an independent Skyrim and the Dominion isn't feasible unless the Dominion takes Cyrodiil from the Empire (and thus destroy the Empire). The Dominion would have to be suicidal to try and invade Skyrim through the Sea of Ghosts and if the Maormer -whose nautical tradition blows Skyrim's out oft he water - can't invade Summerset by the sea then you can bet your ass the Nords can't either.

The Empire is the only one that can realistically take the fight to the Thalmor and also the only one who could stand a realistic chance of victory. The only possible way the Nords could beat the Dominion on their own is if it was the Dragonborn leading the fight, but given Bethesda probably won't have the Dragonborn canonically pick a side we can throw that out hypothetical out.

Hammerfell is already independent so that's rather redundant.

Imperial defeat in Skyrim doesn't help the Empire at all, either. There'd be no rise in nationalism - it'd be the exact opposite. People would see the Empire as weak, ineffective, and unimportant. That leads to more war, more chaos, and less opportunity to rebuild the Legion in preparation for a war with the Thalmor.

What you fail to understand is that the Empire has spent the entire time since the Great War ended trying to rebuild their military strength. The Emperor's not an idiot; he knows the Dominion will come for the Empire again. He wants to be prepared for that day. Ulfric's rebellion is ruining all that by tying down resources and manpower in Skyrim, only for them to be lost in battle. This is why the Thalmor want the war to continue for as long as possible. It weakens the Empire which directly serves their interests. The Dominion has no other military adventures going on, so they can freely rebuild while the Empire is bogged down with a civil war in Skyrim. General Tullius himself states the Empire is planning for war against the Dominion. Legate Rikke, his right-hand woman, also recognizes the Dominion has the principle threat to the Empire. Everybody in the Legion does. There is no puppetry. The Emperor is doing what he did during the Great War: making the Dominion look like they've won. He did this right before he took back the Imperial City, and he's doing this again right before war with the Dominion flares up again.

The longer the Stormcloak Rebellion goes on the weaker the Empire is, if Skyrim successfully secedes from the Empire then the Empire is weakened even more at the loss of a whole province. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. Victory against the Dominion is more likely with a united Empire. Ulfric is ruining everything.

You realize that "lip service" means advocacy through words but not deeds, right? This is the problem with complaining about the law against Talos worship: it was an unenforced law. Nobody cared. It wasn't until the Markarth Incident it had to be enforced, and that was all on Ulfric.

Bethesda has had nine years to make TESVI. Instead they've been re-releasing Skyrim every year. Blame them for not moving the plot forward.

Elder Scrolls six isn't going to come out for several more years and unlike some gaming companies it seems they can't be bothered making more DLC to advance plot.

We don't even have a timeline. Its coming after their next game Starfield and that doesn't have a release date either.

If we're not getting new information for years (which looks likely) why even bother giving us hope with that mini-trailer in 2018? Asshole move, tbh.

Bethesda is one of those companies that is slowly but surely evolving into something like EA or worse.

It took them 4 years to make Oblivion after releasing Morrowind. It took them 5 years to make Skyrim after Oblivion. But now, here we are, 9 years after Skyrim with nothing to show for it except Skyrim on every modern console available and not so much as even a hint of when they'll start working on TESVI.

Fuck Bethesda, seriously. This is just ridiculous. For the length of time we have to wait for this one it better be the best TES game every made.

Well, we do have a hint: after Starfield. Not really a helpful hint, but they have been clear about it.

Also, don't set your expectations so high. Post-76 you shouldn't expect much from them anyway.

I think they hit EA levels with horse armor. Paid mods were the icing on the shit cake. And then with 76, I've lost any hope of 6 being good.

Not gonna lie, my hopes for TESVI are low but I do want it to be better than Skyrim all the same.

Also hope it's in Hammerfell.

Based on the trailer, Hammerfell or High Rock seems most likely. Would have preferred somewhere more exotic after two games centered in human majority areas, but oh well. My preference would be High Rock though, Hammerfell seems too similar to Skyrim, High Rock would feel fresher.

If it's in Hammerfall, I want to see a return of the Ansei, and their bullshit sword magic that allowed the redguards to cut the laws of physics and destroy their old continent.

Based on the trailer, Hammerfell or High Rock seems most likely. Would have preferred somewhere more exotic after two games centered in human majority areas, but oh well. My preference would be High Rock though, Hammerfell seems too similar to Skyrim, High Rock would feel fresher.

As long as it's not Morrowind, Valenwood or Cyrodiil, I'm game regardless lol.

I understand wanting to avoid Cyrodiil and Morrowind, but what's wrong with Valenwood? That's actually one of the three provinces (the others being Elsweyr and Argonia) that I would have liked TES VI to be set in.
