The Twilight Zone

In my opinion, one of the greatest television series of all time--156 episodes, some prominent and classic (Time Enough at Last) some lesser known but still brilliant (Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room--via AnthonyFreeman) ones, and by opinion its not so good ones. But for a show so ahead of its time, so teeming with subjects to provoke contemplation and dialogue so grandioloquent in contrast to many contemporary shows, I almost don't know what else to say.

This should probably go in that Artsy-fartsy section, but I'll see if moderators seriously want that switch to be made before I do it myself (indolence ftw).

Favorite episodes? Favorite lines/characters? Do you even like it/know what it is?

I think you all probably can guess my answers to all of the above, I have no need to repeat myself.

I literally just watched People are Alike All Over just two minutes ago. Wonderful episode, kind of knew where it was going--but nonetheless stunning.

The modern remake used "terrorists", not as good as the original but it's Ok and revelant.

The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.

It is amazing how well the Twilight Zone captures the time period, and it has no peer in that respect.

Look up one of the first two episodes circa 1959 (Where is Everybody? and/or One for the Angels).

Both got me into it, both a great start if you've never seen the series. Perhaps it's not for you, but you aren't American so I suppose it's no shocker that you've never seen/heard of it.

Plus it's from 40 some - 50 some years ago, so that just obscures it even more.

No problem, if I'd know any name off the top of my head it'd be that one.

When the Simpsons do a parody of it, you know it's out there.

"Five Characters Searching for an Exit" An awesome episode. Very creative and contemplative. Putting five characters together that don't know how they got there and don't know their names... and see what happened. Are we in a dream? In someone else's dream? Is this hell? That's what we have.... an endless amount of possibilities....probably inspired the first Saw movie, I think.

Thought they ruined it a bit by explaining it at the end.... but still, one of the best.

What? NOOOOOOO! Everyone's heard of The Twilight Zone, surely. It's kinda a cultural monolith. It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey. Everyone's supposed to have seen it. Many things make no sense without it. Essential cultural knowledge.

Glenn Beck made reference to it once, and I've seen tid-bits--but I've sadly never managed to see the entire episode--but I've been able to piece it together.

Wait...Glenn Beck watches(ed) The Twilight Zone?

...Maybe he's not so bad after all...
