It will likely change once I get through more stuff, the biggest contender as of now is Eternal Champion's Ravening Iron.

Not a rumor, it's the main photo on Iced Earth's last.fm page.

My biggest problem with most of the songs is the fact that there are excellent riffs and parts in there but the songs themselves are too long and the good parts disappear into a sea of generic boredom. One of the worst offenders is Halo on Fire, the last two minutes are absolutely amazing, but the first six are so bland it hurts. If it was a four minute song, it would be one of the best on the album but oh well. Am I Savage? is another offender. One extremely recognizable section, but again, the rest makes me go "what's this song again?". 4/12 songs are great, the rest have good stuff hidden in there and one is tolerable with the music video. Overall still better than Death Magnetic, because there are no truly terrible songs

Haha, that's great
I did hear that he is wanted on unrest-related charges, probably nothing serious enough to earn him significant prison time though.Cadonica wrote:In non-political/non-new album front, I re-visited Hardwired... to Self-Destruct yesterday. Agree. Some great moments on that album, but the majority of it is very, very meh.

Don't you fools know that Metallica are artists who have single-handedly carried rock and roll for decades and y'all are just fake fans because you don't appreciate Lulu and the intricate compositions of Hardwired... to Self-Destruct? It would be completely immature and unbecoming of Metallica to release an album of 3-4 minute memorable thrash songs with a few longer meaningful power ballads and quality solos.

I still have Defenders of the Faith and Painkiller to go. And that one, if I go for it. I like actually quite a few of the earlier day ones. I'm...not liking Defenders of the Faith much so far. I knew there had to be a point where they'd drop off for me.

Yeah, I was never huge into that one either. The Sentinel and Heavy Duty are solid tracks, but not much else on there.

Might be metal blasphemy, but Judas Priest is just good to me, not great, just good.
