I still haven't listened to Rammstein's newest album in it's entirety, I've only heard the songs they've played on Finnish rock radio, called Radio Rock (very unimaginative but very Finnish name for a rock radio station). Deutschland is a definite grower, I didn't like it that much when I first heard it, but the more I listen to it, the better it gets. Ausländer is just annoying and there's probably one other song they play on that station but I don't even remember what it is. I need to check the whole album at some point though.

Deutschland, Radio, Zeig Dich, and Auslander are the best songs IMO. Only Puppe is annoying.

I checked two songs from them, Let's Kill These Motherfuckers and Warlord. Right down my alley, will check them out properly in the very near future!

Man I don't know how I feel about the remixed version of Cynic's Traced In Air. Removing the death vocals makes it sound a bit flat in places, but the bass parts are better and the drums pop better. Hmm.

Thoughts on the newest Ghost EP? I'm personally a big fan of "Mary on a Cross", even though the EP is pretty far from anything resembling metal.

Ghost isn't a Metal band per se; more like a band that plays Metal sometimes.

I'm not really sure what to think of it, but GosT, the originally synthwave but gone heavily black metal influenced heavy house music band, well...has gone even more down the black metal realm in the new album.

Or, in the least, that song. Seems to have a lot of old 80's darkwave/darksynth influence.

Phobia - Breaking Benjamin

Postby Flussigkeit Kase » Mon Oct 07, 2019 2:00 pm

My favorite metal album of 2018, and of all time, is the Phobia album by Breaking Benjamin. Each song is completely captivating, with perfect guitar and vocals that can match all of my moods - from the lows, to the highs. This music touches my soul, and I feel like every word was taken from my mind.

Not quite as lively as it has been at various points in the past, but yes :p Welcome.

Some will dispute whether it belongs in the metal thread, but regardless, Phobia is indeed a fantastic album by a fantastic band. I saw them live recently and wished they'd played a bit more from it.

I never quite knew how to feel about Traced In Air in general. The music is obviously great, but the vocoder parts really grate on me. Even though I think it worked completely on Focus. Maybe you need more of the harsh vocals and metal riffage to balance it out.

Eh. I liked the original Traced quite a lot and as someone who listens to a lot of Japanese stuff, electronic effects on vocals have never bothered me :p I think I've concluded that I prefer the new version, it just took a while to get used to because you're used to something being there that isn't any more.

Breaking Benjamin is one of the better Alt-Metal bands hands down.
