Does anyone else think the main melody that repeats throughout Bismarck is remarkably similar to this one that first plays at 2:11?

I can kinda see some resemblance. But I think the way Sabaton plays it is I guess like faster. But yeah I do think there is a bit of resemblance there.

Really? I’ll have to listen again, but I thought it was almost note-for-note. Maybe it was only because I already had Bismarck in my head. And if it is the same riff, I think Sabaton played it better, mind you :p

I'm really not hearing it personally, and I have Bismarck stuck in my head 24/7. It's tied with Screaming Eagles as my favorite Sabaton song.

There's quite a bit of Iron Maiden in Sabaton, so it's not too strange.

Eh I disagree. While yeah a couple of songs like seven pillars of wisdom felt very similar to older Sabaton songs I think most of the new songs are unique enough to make calling them rehashes not entirely accurate.

I really liked The Last stand. Jury is still out on the new one but first impressions is that it’s less good.

Boom-bap hip-hop.
Necro's a huge metal fan who's played in metal bands before and regularly has features from metal musicians (and I think Sid from Slipknot did his first rap verse on a Necro album). Generally his lyrical subject matter is typical of death metal, just he delivers it more clearly so your mom remains offended. :lol2:

If I recall correctly that album cover was done by the same artist as Peace Sells.

Bismarck was a solo; not part of any album.

Speaking of hip-hop and metal, the project City Morgue is pretty good industrial trap metal. Featuring one of my favorite new rappers, ZillaKami.

I enjoyed it.

For what it's worth, I've been working on some instrumentals with samples from Suffocation, Bolt Thrower, Burzum, Mayhem and a few other metal bands. With any luck some of these will get used for my second mixtape planned for later this year. It's interesting to hear examples that show I'm not the only fan of hip-hop who enjoys metal riffs. :lol2:

Sounds like something I would listen to. Dutch breakcore act Bong-Ra also tended to recycle death metal riffs by combining them with wicked beats. You might like Bong-Ra's Full Metal Racket

I can second the recommendation of Bong-Ra if you're coming over from the metal side.

Where's Cad at? He's pretty into the metal-inspired electronic fusion stuff.
