I was randomly going through one of the What Are You Listening To Right Now threads when I came across this comment:
Primordial - "No Nation On This Earth"

Quickly becoming one of my favorite metal albums of all time.
by Cosumar

And what am I gonna say right now? Well...

The more I listen to Primordial the better they become. Soon they're probably one of my top 5 or at least top 10 metal bands of all times.

I can already say that the lyrics of Bloodied Yet Unbowed are going to be on my grave stone. If not, I'm gonna haunt everyone I've ever known :p

Pretty much their best song in 5 years, if only Soldier of 3 Armies and Far from the Fame didn't exist.

No new albums this year have impressed me at all, but I've only listened to 6 or 7 new albums. I'm slow, yeah.

You'll want some real war metal for that. You'll want Bolt Thrower.

Just listened to some of their music. TBH not a major fan. While it is not bad I don´t really enjoy death metal.

I do.

Some of Death I like, but I like Sepultura.

And this will get weirder but I like Low-Demonic-The Gathering era Testament where they experimented with death metal.

Chuck Billy sounded amazing on those albums.

Hey, half of the songs on The Last Stand were great.

Though I will say that in my opinion Bismarck is by far one of their best songs ever, which is precisely why my metal playlist will be forever incomplete without it. :p

In that case, you may enjoy Scar Symmetry. Catchy, melodic power metal style choruses with growled but understandable verses (and occasionally some prog-shred sessions in between).

Glad you liked! Pretty much everything they've come out with has been stellar. Per Nilsson is easily one of my favorite guitarists and the most impressive I have seen live. They're currently in the middle of a dystopian sci-fi concept album trilogy. Part I came out in 2014 and was brilliant, but I'm beginning to wander if the rest will ever be completed.

I used to prefer power and symphonic metal over anything else, too.
Then I found a video of Count Blagorath fangasming over Agalloch, and wow, that was a moment for me.

Venom is one of my all time favorite bands but that's just overblowing it. Were they an influence on those three genres? Sure. Were they singlehandedly responsible for them? Absolutely not.

wrong.. actually Sarcofago is what really started black metal. They took inspiration from Venom, yes, but Sarcofago further developed black metal and in turn, influenced the Scandinavian black metal bands we all know too well today. :p
