We are Decent Hardworking Self-Starters here at R249 (well, supposed to be something like that, IDK how the Inoffensive Centrist stuff happened in such a blatantly right-wing state) and a Patriotic Business Zone at New R249! Also, might as well mention The Outer R249 Cult, that R249ian Prison Colony, and whatever Anarcho-R249 has turned into. Communications are done under the name of R249.

I don’t think he’s a threat to public safety. Either way, he already served his time.

You're gonna have a bad time.

The music often comes from a dark and not particularly pleasant mental place, private lives aren't always gonna be squeaky clean. Sounds like it might have been a borderline/complicated case for a plea bargain to have happened. He wasn't exactly Jimmy Saville.

Inward-looking, paranoid digging will destroy the scene and its authenticity. Enjoy the art, lets not get into the no platform mentality. Metalsucks have been pulling this shit for a while, trying to mobilise useful idiots to purge the scene of anyone they think is "problematic"; hopefully the smallest backlash will make them fuck off back to their SJ safe spaces.

#metalsuckssucks

Man, there’s a big leap from having dark feelings (most metal musicians do, yes) or questionable ideologies to actually supporting and engaging in the abuse of children. That’s on him, not Metalsucks. I’ll still appreciate his music from time to time, but I will no longer financially contribute to such a person.

To be fair Varg may be asshole incarnate but the man is smart. He was getting out early on good behavior without a doubt. Unlike Cosumar I know that Varg is a threat to public safety not like he's going to burn more churches down but i wouldn't put it above Varg to kidnap torture and kill someone.

Intended to spend today listening to the new Barren Earth album, which will no doubt be a stonker, but instead distracted by an oldie that only recently got recommended to me: Defiant Imagination by Quo Vadis

DM is very rarely of interest to me, but this can join Intestine Baalism and Barren Earth in the Triumvirate of Acceptability.

My final word on the Inquisition story:

The events happened close to a decade ago, were not severe enough for the full charge to be pursued, he wasn't put on a sex offenders registry, and the documentation provided by metalsucks indicates that he was a full participant in the group therapy he was assigned and assessed as of very low risk. He does not seem to have committed any offences since.

A key part of progressive legal systems is the idea of rehabilitation. Destroying someone's career in retroactive punishment for things they've gone beyond, and doing so out of a motivation for clicks and to knock down someone you ideologically disagree with, is not good behaviour. It is also worth noting that ex-offenders have a higher risk of falling into behaviour that hurts themselves and others when their career and support networks are pulled from beneath them, so metalsucks have arguably put the public at GREATER risk in their selfish tabloid muck-rakery.

Out of Metalsucks and Inquisition I know which one I'll be boycotting.

Absolutely reason to rejoice, for Zeal & Ardor is one of the more interesting acts of recent times. Still no news about a second Batushka album, unfortunately.

Oh, got round to listening now to the new Barren Earth and it's very very good.

Like potential AOTY good. The vocals, the proggy jam bits, the well-timed moves into more aggressive territory. Oh yes!

So sometimes I need to be shown good music against my will. Was listening to Alcest, and the album ended so Spotify decided to jump me with some related music. Discovered some sweet Agalloch, Katatonia, and Woods of Ypres material.

Wow Primordial has good shit too

Yeah I know who it's from. I just never got around to it...though I oddly have listened to Galaktikon II. Which is as close to a Metalocalypse finale as we'll ever get.
