Solntsa Roshcha --- Postmodern Poyltheist
"Christianity had brutally planted the poisoned blade in the healthy, quivering flesh of all humanity; it had goaded a cold wave
of darkness with mystically brutal fury to dim the serene and festive exultation of the dionysian spirit of our pagan ancestors."

This is why we generally try to avoid politics on this thread. Otherwise Naz and I wouldn't be friends
A lot of metal tends to be quite liberal, but there are also quite a few conservatives that enjoy metal. I would say that metal does tend to be more to the left of the spectrum though. So while metal does bring a lot of people of a lot of different backgrounds together, and that's great, it sort of wears off once people realize how much they disagree with each other on other things, especially politics or religion. Hail Lucifer!

That last statement is very true.
Expression is great, but this thread is about metal. I mean I definitely wouldn't mind some sensible discussion about religion or political beliefs, because it's interesting to see how my fellow metalheads feel about certain things, but at the same time, getting religion or politics involved tends to get someone righteously pissed off and then the thread ends up getting derailed, people wind up hated each other, and it's just not about the metal anymore. Though to be fair, Naz didn't really say anything offensive. So I mean, I feel like we should be okay to discuss whatever, as a group of metalheads, but at the same time, that doesn't always end well.

I mean there was the little thing with Naz and being a decent human being, so I went right off with that.
Anyway, off the topic, I can't remember, have you been properly introduced to symphonic metal?

Not really tho, just listened to one song of Fleshgod Apocalypse but.... That's it.

Okay, let me give you some listening material then, whenever you're in the mood
Nightwish - Nemo
I know damn well that this isn't their best song. But it's one of the first songs I heard by them, and it has a special place for me. Just tell me what you think about it and we'll go from there. Nightwish have had 3 vocalists, this is their first, Tarja. She's the most classically trained of the three, and my personal favorite in Nightwish. There's a lot of better songs I can show you, but I just want to gauge your interest first.
Epica - Martyr of the Free Word
Another one that isn't necessarily one of their best. BTW link may not work depending on your country, so tell me if it doesn't. I just had a difficult time finding a good quality version to show you. Anyway, I headbanged with their guitarist when I was front row to this song, and of course Simone (vocalist) was very close by too. I also meet the band. I have a bit of a thing for Simone. Anyway Epica's been getting better with every album and their latest was mindblowing. If you like this, you'll LOVE the two albums I have lined up to show you.
Apocalyptica - Running Love
They play with just cellos and some distortion added to said cellos. This is not something they typically do, but I have this live album and I adore it. Link may not work so let me know. Basically, they're a group of cello players plus a drummer. They're known for doing a few Metallica covers early on.
Carach Angren - Where Corpses Sink Forever
I can't not give you this whole album. The intro is grim and dark, like the band. They're symphonic black metal, referring to themselves as horror metal. Naz showed me this album and I loved it. I have another great album by them with a, in my opinion, heavier guitar tone than this one. Vocals are narrations, not typical lyrics. They're literally telling you horror stories with a black metal and symphonic background.
