Hipsters, basically.

In other words you don't know much about black metal. This is not offensive or controversial or obscure. And that's just one of many many examples.

Pretty much this. Not to mention all the atmospheric black metal bands with no "controversial" elements and quasi-mainstream (I wouldn't really call Pitchfork mainstream per se) reception such as Wolves in the Throne Room, Deafheaven, Alcest, and Bosse-de-Nage.

So.... I have read the shitshow that happened and I want to make it clear, I am a Conservative and a Nationalist. But I DO like many sorts of Metal, including Black Metal (shout out to the NS nation Impaled Nazarene who introduced me to Melechesh).
So please, stop making assumptions that Conservatives don't like Metal. (I am not saying all said that, but some dude said that)

Can you give me an album or two I'd enjoy by them, given what I like?

The two Fleshgod Apocalypse albums I have in my collection are Labyrinth and King. I recommend both of them.

I took a test online that said I was one of those. Still not sure what it means. I just know Ron Swanson is one, and that made it feel cooler.

On my part it basically means I'm liberal but I'm for the free market with SOME restrictions. Considering Swanson's anarchist views on government, I can't really relate on that part.

After listening to Theli and Vovin, I think I'll have to give them one more listen each. I mean Theli's got a few really good songs, but Vovin is good too. It's tough for me to say too much. They didn't move me as much as Sirius B, though, so I'm definitely going to sing Sirius B's praises, because from songs like the intense "Blood of Kingu" to the absolutely beautiful "The Wonderous World of Punt," or "Son of the Sun," it's a masterpiece from start to finish. The guitar work is very tasty and the vocals are wonderful.

Fleshgod Apocalypse is in my to-listen list for today.

Honestly it just sounds like they're trying too hard to be controversial or offensive.

Actually, pretty much the entire genre sounds like that.

Theli is my JAM. Definitely give it a few more spins. All of the songs are at least pretty good.

I really need to re-listen to Sirius B though. It's been years. I only vaguely remember those latter two songs you mentioned.

I'll get around to it, then. Definitely re-listen to Sirius B, though.

Also given the amount of symphonic metal I've been consuming in the past month or two, with Epica and Therion (and now I'm listening to Fleshgod Apocalypse), I think my vote was pretty easy to make :p

Symphonic metal is a pretty good choice because I mean, Carach Angren is symphonic metal, just symphonic black metal. Epica and Fleshgod Apocalypse have death growls, and Therion used to at first. So you could have some really heavy symphonic metal or you can have lighter stuff like Nightwish. Maybe that's why I can get turned off of black metal for a bit, or death metal, or lose my enthusiasm for folk metal, and cycle around a bit, but always listen to symphonic metal.

There are a couple shows I plan on going to next week. All kinds of bands playing: thrash, black, death, beatdown, etc. Should be fun.

I've been listening to Lustravi and Misgiver lately.
