Poor guy. Must be a huge shock to the band, him dying on tour. Now the people at the Detroit show last night will be able to say they saw his last ever performance :(

Its also been ruled a suicide.

And you were? God damn, that's got to be painful to know you may have seen him soon, now you never will be able to again.

I dunno what's worse, never seeing him or to be the last ones to ever see him.

Yeah, I was thinking about surprising my dad with tickets since they were his favorite band back in the day.

That's now 3 of the big 4 grunge singers who have committed suicide...

If you start a post-grunge band you just end up in relative obscurity after a very brief period of "fame" and only have consistent fans in rednecks.

The 10th anniversary remix/remaster of Katatonia's Viva Emptiness is fucking majestic. THAT is the version worth a 10/10 rating. It includes a lot of keyboard-based orchestration in the background that adds to the depressing atmosphere.

Man, the range in Enslaved's progressive metal is quite amazing. This Vertebrae album starts out like none I've heard so far.

I want to hear a doom metal cover of Nocturnus' Neolithic. I think it would have some great potential, especially around the 4:10 part with the chorus. Maybe change the solos to be more melodic, then the song would be even better.

I'd never heard the demo version of that song before. Pretty cool. I hear what you're saying too about the part at 4:15. If slowed down, it would have a definite Candlemass 'Gothic Stone' vibe.

There are about six absolutely amazing tracks on that album that I love with all my heart, but I find the rest strangely inconsistent. Certainly a great album - most don't even have one song the caliber of those best six - but I can't quite consider it one of my very very favorites because of the "filler" in between when listening all the way through. Maybe I just need to try harder to get into the other songs...

The ones I love are:
Gothic Kabbalah
Son of the Staves of Time
Tuna 1613
Trul
The Wand of Abaris
T.O.F. - The Trinity

Especially Trul recently because of that Jethro Tull-esque flute work and amazing vocals.

I've been way into Trul the past few days, along with Abaris.

Three Treasures and Perennial Sophia are pretty good too imo. I like Treasure's chorus and Perennial Sophia's got an interesting vibe to it.

Yeah, after re-listening, I remember that Three Treasures was one of my favorites of the songs I didn't list. The chorus and solo are nice, just not quite as "amazing" imo.

Totally fair judgement, I think it fits the album perfectly but it wouldn't be in my "Best Of" compilation.
