SO apparently Mayhem and Inquisition are about to tour the US together, with Mayhem playing De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas in its entirety.

What do you guys think of Blood on Ice? I think it's generally a great album, but it has some bad or forgettable parts.

Mixed bag. The Lake and Gods of Thunder of Wind and of Rain are great songs. Quite a few forgettable songs.

Understandable considering it was Bathory's first attempt at the viking style. The songs were recorded before Hammerheart but Quorthon scrapped them until later when fans wanted to hear them.

Many say their debut is the best. Many are wrong. OR maybe many are right. Is my opinion even valid? After consulting with my Prussian memes it seems I need to ask Polska then invade regardless of answer.

Since Pentagram happens to be the only Gorgoroth album in my collection at the moment, that one is currently my favorite.

Black metal is such an amazing genre with a huge number of different sounds.

Norwegian black metal, unfortunately, is boring and shouldn't be consumed other than by tundra-dwelling cassette-eaters.

They're so close, they might as well be tied. Both are great, but I have to give the edge to Pentagram because it contains my top two Gorgoroth songs.

I don't care for the third album at all though. I was really underwhelmed by it, and then never went any further in the Gorgoroth discography.

Um, there's diversity within Norway too. Just stroll through the alphabet from Darkthrone to Dimmu to Emperor to Enslaved and all the way to Ulver and Windir...

Wintersun seem to have confirmed new album The Forest Seasons for 2017.

Time II is still stuck with Jari's technological issues, but it'll be nice to hear something new regardless. Sounds like it might be something a little less bombastic and more acoustic/folky.

So basically the mobs have broken through the gates and Jari had to improvise and throw out something that only took 5 seconds?

That's what happened to me with Dimmu recently.

Well it's like 4 songs again but still longer than Time I. My only serious problem with that album was its brevity. After the end of the title track, as amazing as that song was, all I could think of was "that's IT? NO!!!"

Apparently, he has actually been working on this since 2014 when work on Time II came to a halt.

And on his Facebook, Jari said The Forest Seasons is the first album he's ever been 100% happy with.

Pretty much. The three actual songs (all brilliant) would've made for a superb EP, but the long intros/interludes were such obvious filler! And Jari basically admitted as much. Imagine if Time I and Time II could've been released as one masterpiece album!

Dark Ambient solo project of Satyr of Satyricon. His real name is Sigurd Wongraven, hence the project's name :p

Made one album, Fjelltronen. Ihsahn provided session keyboards on it.
