Gives you something to do. I tend to buy interesting cd's whenever the price is right, it's why my music collection never stops expanding.

I have been slacking at listening, but there's kind of been reasons for it. Been gaming a lot (About 119 hours in Starbound in the last 2 1/2 to 3 weeks)

The beauty of multitasking and shit. I listen to music whenever I'm doing anything that doesn't require total focus.

Most days of the year I listen to about three albums in a day, sometimes five. Maybe six or seven occasionally. But some days I don't listen to a full album. Altogether if I kept track I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least 400 albums a year, as long as you count re-listens because it's not like I'm getting that many new albums.

I too made my first music purchase of 2017 today. Continuing to grow my baby vinyl collection:

Candlemass - Candlemass Live 1990 ($21 new)
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Trilogy ($10 used)
Dan Fogelberg - The Innocent Age ($4 used)

Gonna go to a record store with a better metal selection later tonight and see if I can get my first extreme metal record.

It's actually my most listened to album according to Last.fm with 561 plays, even though 40 songs are too short to be counted. The second highest album has 333 plays. But since it counts songs, not actual times I've listened to the album, I don't pay attention at all to those statistics.
