Well, they actually think that Vikernes gives proper commentary about they modern world, and then they proceed to diss DsO. Quite vile.

They sure do love their cliche buzzwords. And avoiding all new music.

By the way I'm playing Myfarog with some members of the campus Metal Club on off-weeks. It's so bloated and complex that I've improvised a lot of the shit but overall we're enjoying the silliness of Varg's ideas. Conan the Barbarian but even more racist. The magic spells are cool in an old-school fashion though.

Ok.

So the In Flames album is as bad as we all thought it would be.

I'm tempted to hear it just for the hell of it, but I'd rather prioritize stuff I might like...

That tends to be the proper path to walk, unless you're one of those people with a cringe fetish.

For In Flames, I can do that.

Like most recent albums of theirs it's a bit of a cocktease. There are a surprising amount of moments that feel like a return to at least a Come Clarity or Soundtrack era but then something awful comes in. Also the lead guitar tone sounds really generic.

Not as instantly memorable as The Joy of Motion but more complex.

Thus far it seems like Animals as Leaders took the safe route. I was hoping for something darker and less soundtrack-y.

Well I think it's tied with The Joy of Motion for their best release yet.

There are thrash albums longer than that.

52 minute is still fairly long for any album. Especially one fairly early in a band's career.

Tremolo picking goals.

I am firmly entrenched in the world of atmospheric black metal.

I hate it when a band has a guitar player who can shred like mad, but the vocalist is incapable of any oomph.
