Well, my love for hard rock, rock in general started with 2 songs. One is anthem of the lonely by nine lashes and the other is can you feel my heart by bring me the Horizon

Oh, that's what BMTH means. Them I know. My little brother likes them.

What's your opinion? Also what's your "mainstream" definition?

Not my cup of tea. Kinda screamo/Linkin Park-ish. And I'm not a fan of those two things.

Well, the mainstream bands I guess. Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, etc.

*Looks up the bands* Most Metalcore and any non-Deftones band that is or has as an notable influence post-hardcore are considered to be a part of an trendy scene that is a distinct trendy subculture than other metal ones and whose "whiny" vocals and electronic flourishes make their ears bleed.

IIRC though the closest mainstream is more Five fingered and Sevenfold's work. Though having a noticeable chunk of your bands claim to fame being covering pop songs to trend on social media ought to be somewhere close TBF.

I don't think such generalization necessarily apply to your taste once BMTH is taken out(and even then not all of it from what i heard from crtics) but if you want check out these rec: Converge, Decapitated, Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Gojira, Hatebreed, Meshuggah Shadows Fall, Thrice

For my part I'll also throw in Tool, Scar Symmetry, Faith No More, Disillusion, Devin Townsend, Amorphis, Alchemist, Nevermore, Opeth, Katatonia, Kyuss, Strapping Young Lad, Heaven & Hell, Tiamat, Mastodon, Cult Of Luna, Myrath, Melvins, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Caligula's Horse and Waltari.

I'll also second Deftones, Converge, Gojira, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Ministry.

May I ask a question?

I dont really know what to call myself, what genre of rock I like. I like Bad Omens, fame on fire, BMTH, Crown the Empire, red, Our last night, hands like houses, architects among others. What does this make me? I dont feel like just calling myself a metal head really fits.

About fifteen years ago I may have seen Architects, together with Architect and The Chariot. Not that I am entirely certain, given how there are quite a few bands which call themselves Architect. This was the British metalcore one.

I've had a ton of things on my plate these last couple of months that I haven't really given myself a chance to sit down and actually listen to new music in clarity, but I can say that Bloom is a fantastic album, and what I've heard of The Tide, the Thief & River's End it's also on that same level.

Grey is just an amazing singer through and through, he has range, he has power, and his overall voice just works wonders to compliment the band. Marigold & Daughter Of The Mountain were on repeat for a while because I was just blown away by them. It also scratches my prog metal itch so that's always nice.

On another note I have started to slowly go through Judas Priest's entire discog, and I will say one thing Victim Of Changes is one of the best metal songs ever.

Nice! Yeah, Bloom is an all-time fave, but In Contact is right behind it imo. "Graves" is hands-down their most impressive song.

Panopticon's album is my favorite from this year so far, I think. The first half of The Embers at Dawn really makes me want to hear more of Austin Lunn's clean vocals, and the last few minutes of Know Hope contain one of my favorite build-ups/climaxes of metal music in general.

Also got a Feminazgûl record in the mail the other day that I bought on impulse, but I don't have an actual record player to play it on LOL. Once my living situation gets a bit more stable, definitely gonna invest in a decent one.
