Maybe because other genres can be comparatively lacking in instrumentation?

Maybe, but then I should be a fan of other instrumental music.

I mean more that a lot of pop and hip hop has quite empty backing tracks.

That's true. My girlfriend has tried time and time again to get me into hip hop, but the background ruins the songs for me.

As lovely as she is, she likes DragonForce. She prefers them over Agalloch, Taake, and Darkthrone. :(

For me I've always liked a bit of everything, and I don't think that will ever change. If anything, the type of stuff is expanding even more, as I've been getting more into hip-hop stuff recently.

Same. I quite like Brockhampton. They're like a more wholesome, black version of Mayhem.

Agreed, but it's, in my case, also that my interests just aren't represented in hip hop/pop etc., at least not as much as in metal/rock.

Varathron has been around for a while, they are veterans of the Greek black metal scene. An interesting band for anyone who happens to be into Rotting Christ. And while we're talking about upcoming releases: Napalm Death is going to unleash an interesting double cd upon this wretched world next month, containing a wide variety of split EP songs.

So basically Napalm Death's version of Nasum's Grind Finale.

I know, I've got a couple of their other albums. It's their album that I was saying that's new, not the band.

Only 31 tracks, so it is not entirely a correct comparison. Also Napalm Death is still going strong.

Terrible news everyone: Glenn Tipton will not be playing on the Firepower tour. The Emmy-award winning guitarist his Parkinson has worsened, so he will not be playing on stage.
