Fallout 4's radiation storms:
When you come to a new settlement, hit the workshop bench and build the 1950s style travel trailer. Put sleeping bags in it, and put a door on it, too. When you hear electronic thunder, enter this same trailer, close the door, and sleep for two hours. You'll avoid radiation damage, too. *NOTE*: Sleeping bags are the cheapest way to fulfill the bed requirement for settlements, too.
Red Rocket gas station near sanctuary: Put a door on the business office inside it, Instant shelter. Diamond City-go to the All Faith's Chapel and sit for two hours. Free.
If caught traveling -put on a Hazmat suit, pop rad-x, or fast travel from there.
