Huh... not sure how I feel about some of the changes...

Catching Ho-oh isn't bad, but removing Brock and Misty I don't like. Sinnoh and Alola Pokemon. . . meh. As for Red, isn't Red SUPPOSED to be Ash?

No, Ash is supposed to be the reimagining of Red (As stated by the creator of Pokemon), but from the looks of the trailer, it seems like they gave Charles (The League President of the country Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are a part of) a redesign to make him look more like Red, so I'm just gonna call him Old Man Red until that's confirmed.

I'm kinda split on Brock and Misty, at the start they were fun and interesting characters, but on the other hand, it seems that they're exploring the multiple universe game theory (Something very complex) buy changing what happened on Ash's journey. I'm... interested.

I bet that he's going to dream the whole thing and wake up late. That'd be neat.

There has to be some ground type special attackers you can use because most of your attack power is physical with this team. Claydol only has a 70 base special attack stat which is not that good. Gastrodon seems decent with a 92 special attack stat but with only 100 ev's going into that it won't do that much. Also why not have sheer force on nidoking? Or better yet use Nidoqueen who can take hits better and also has sheer force?

I would say add Hippowdon to your team because he is awesome and amazing and I love it. Although, I am not sure if it would be better to use it as a tank instead of gastrodon.

To be fair, ground types are often physical attackers, with some exceptions being Mega Camerupt and Palossand.

He can't use mega evolution as a gym leader so camerupt is out and I have never used nor faced palossand so I can't say how good or bad it is.

It's ability allows it to up its special attack after being hit by one water move, but it doesn't reduce damage from water attacks. But it is a duel ghost/ground type, so that's cool.

He has golurk as well for the ghost and ground. Also its ability sharply raises its defense not special attack after I just looked it up.

I was thinking of using Hippowdown, as I wanted to get a sandstorm summoner in there somehow. Just as a heads up, I am not all that much into the competitive scene, so my sets are going to be a bit garbage.

Pallosand's ability is basically a weaker version of Storm Drain. Storm Drain makes Gastrodon take any water type attack that is used, immune to that attack, and boost its SpA.

Should I replace Claydol with Hippowdon?

I would say yes, but claydol has rapid spin which can be useful to deal with traps. On the other hand hippowdon can no stealth rock and toxic along with slack off to recover hp. Your gastrodon has its defensive values boosted and a recovery move as well so I dont think you need hippowdon. Its up to you of course.

I don't don't have too much experience in competitive and havent played showdown in a while so I'm not gonna say I have an expert opinion. I stopped at the point when sun and moon just came out. Gen 7 pokemon I dont know their usual movesets or what works best with them. I haven't faced alot of them so I won't go into the ones you have on your team.

I'll say right off the bat that your hp investment in chandelure could be a mistake. Its base stat is only 60 so it doesn't have a lot of hp to begin with even with its base 90 defense and Special Defense. It won't take many hits. Most people tend to make Chandelure an all out attacker by raising its special attack and speed and even adding a choice scarf because its base speed is 80.
If you want an immunity to fire make flash fire your ability.

Drifblim I have never used before and have rarely ever fought one. It has really low defenses with 44 base defense and 54 base special defense. Its hp is 150 though and it has a base 90 special attack and base 80 attack and speed. So what you have going with it seems fine at least to me. Since I'm in school right now I can't look up any movesets on any website that people use for drifblim. So if someone else wants to point anything out about it feel free.

I feel like you could be without trevenant entirely you have decidueye in your team which is also grass and ghost. They have close hp stats with 85 and 78, respectively. One point difference in defence, 3 point difference in attack, then decidueye largely beats trevenant in special attack, special defense and speed. I dont know what movesets either pokemon usually run but I still think you could find another pokemon instead of trevenant.

Deros is waiting on you who's waiting on me who's waiting on Petro who's (I assume) waiting on the Soviet guy. It's a conga line of waiting and sadness up in here.

I'm not good with competitive, so I really can't say. I would recommend a different ability for Scizor or Empoleon if one exists.
I also must ask the same question to you in regard to my own team.

Why a different one for scizor? The only ones it can learn besides technician is swarm and light metal. Technician would be the best option.

Fuck, I forgot what Technician did. I thought it was an accuracy-increasing ability for a moment.

are the challengers not restricted to one type just like in the games? Are there any restrictions for what challengers can use?

if I ever have the time to do this I would probably use a poison type team since I rarely use them, already have at least three pokes in mind.
