I managed to avoid all information about the game before starting it, and finished it an hour ago. It was great fun. My final team was Runerigus-Toxtricity-Corviknight-Orbeetle-Inteleon-Falinks.

It was painful to hear about the national pokedex reduction, especially as no members of my personal team made it into the game (Swampert-Chansey-Scizor-Salamence-Alakazam-Infernape). Still, hopefully they will be done with the rest of the animations in time for the next game. My biggest disappointment was actually that I cannot find a suit and bowler hat in in any of the boutiques

EDIT: in case there are people who do not know, the evolution requirement for Runerigus seems to be having a Yamask take a lot of damage and then walk under the big rock arch in the wilds, and there is a trick you can do with Falinx to have it hold the Shed Shell, which negates the downside of No Retreat.

So, who is the best starter for Sword and Shield? Is there one this time or is it personal preference?

Okay, one positive thing I'll say about SwSh: I can't deny that Centiskorch is an excellent design. I like the more realistic centipede style compared to Scolipede, whose segments are far too round and almost looks like a cross between a spirobolid and a centipede. Looking forward to models being ripped so I can do some art with it.
Also, Clobbopus is adorable.

I think it is pretty good. I have one on my team and it has done some good work.

I mean I personally prefer the Grass starter, Grookey. I just think it's final design is by far the best. Can't really talk for competitive use.

Really? I thought Grookey's final evolution was rather ugly, while Sobble's is just weird. Though Scorbunny's is pretty cool.

Yeah I think the whole monkey with drums look is just fine. Though, while I do like it it is not my favorite design of Gen 8. that would have to be either Coalossal or Corviknight.

Grookey's looks like a weird fighting game reject, Sobble's is scary, and Scorbunny's is...

Its stats are not the best, but it put in work in clutch situations, certainly. One thing I would say is that I would definitely recommend trying to get one with a hidden ability through the raids, its hidden ability is phenomenal - it reflects all stat reducing moves and abilities back at the opponent. Mine just had Unnerve.

You will know you have it if you catch a raid Rookidee or Corvisquire with the ability Big Pecks.

Nice. I just did the whole legendary encounter stuff( Zacian and Zamazenta are very good bois) and am heading to the champion battle.

Edit: Just won the battle(admittedly through the use of max potions and max revives because the battle was quite difficult for me.)

Congratulations!

That is an interesting question, what are all of your opinions on the use of items during battle? I refuse to ever do it, on the basis that it would be weird to run into the middle of a battle to start spraying medicine. It sounds like a very easy way to either get caught in the crossfire or be disqualified for cheating, haha. I was not a fan of the mechanic like that in generation 5 (if I am remembering correctly).

I remember watching a youtuber battling Red in Pokemon Moon, and he won by just spamming healing items until Red's Pikachu died from Volt Tackle recoil, which is at the extreme end of the spectrum and I found quite distasteful.

Well, it's incredibly annoying when you're about to beat a trainer and then suddenly "(Name) used a Full Restore!"

That's why I like to give them a taste of their own medicine and use Max Potions.

Ok...so I know there is typically a debate between Full Restore vs. Max Potions. What is the better buy?

And I have heard that "Leon is just like Diantha". Is that the case?

So it looks like the new anime is the 2nd reboot of the original series in the past 5 years.

Proving that even when Ash completes his goal, finishes his character arc, and has no where else to go, we're still never going to be rid of him.

Not sure about the former, I tend to stock up on Hyper and Super Potions instead.

As for the latter, I tried to deny it through the game but had to accept that Leon is actually pretty awesome. Plus, his team was the first major challenge in the game - the first half of his team defeated more than half of mine. Sadly for him, his last three were all weak to my Inteleon and went down in 1 hit each to dynamax versions of ice beam and snipe shot.
