As a huge old-generations- fan i really like bulbasaur as my starter, but Chimchar is also really good. The reasons are that their final evolutions, Venusaur and Infernape are two of the best starter-evolution pokemon in the entire pokemon-universe. In competetive gameplay both of them have been in OU for several generations.

A tournament can't allow 5 it has to be in multiples of 4 I think. Somebody correct me on this cause I think I'm wrong.

Ehhh, stick him on the end and have him battle the tournament winner. Or axe one of the current competitors.

I changed it to fit Deros. Now we should be able to decide our elite four and champion with the five we have.

Yep. All five winnera from their gym team will advance to the custom team round, and their records will be added together, with the tiebreaker being H-2-H record, and number of pokemon left at end on a team.

That's fine usually people live in different time zones and are generally unavailable on here. The battles can take place whenever between the two opponents as long as the result is posted on here and confirmed by both players and if possible link the replay here so we can see.

You face everyone once, so just get every match you can in. And yes, use your gym teams first.

I already have a custom team that I like to use, but I'm trying to make a poison type team if I ever apply for gym leader. I currently can't get access on Showdown since I'm using a school device.

Are mega's allowed on custom teams?
