Needs an anime for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime -The Ways of the Monster Nation because obviously two SoL spin-offs are better than one.
Although I guess they''d be cautious of that because that takes place further in timeline than what anime for main story is atm. lol

I've not been much of an anime person, probably due to lack of access as a child (isolated country upbringing, am I right?)

However, my SO is a fan of things like My Hero Academia and it's growing on me. Better late than never!

Lupin III: The First was as fast-paced as the red jacket shows. Not bad at all.

I suppose it depends on your tolerance towards usual shonen tropes.

It's very similar to Fullmetal Alchemist in ways, so if you like that you'll probably enjoy Demon Slayer

He has his moments - he was not annoying enough to be series-ruining for me, not like Katekyo Hitman Reborn's Lambo. He was quite grating, though.

Made in Abyss...
...Now, I'm certainly no stranger to explicit violence. Even when it's included with a seemigly more "family-friendly" aesthetic like this, I don't mind it, and I didn't find the series itself to be crossing any lines around what I'm accustomed to (well, not too far past them anyway). But come the movie sequel (Dawn of the Deep Soul) and that's the point where I think "okay... what the actual fuck have I gotten myself into?"

Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba is great, though I do think that it suffered from being overhyped like a lot of popular anime, with the result that a lot of people went into watching it with sky-high expectations and came out disappointed and angry that it didn't meet them. The plot is solid if not terribly original, but the characters are likable, the animation, soundtrack and other aspects of the production are about as good as it gets and the story has real emotional resonance, at least for me. Plus the historical setting is really interesting. As for Zenitsu, I actually like him and find him funny in small doses, but I understand why other people find him annoying. They could do with toning him back a lot.

It has a huge fandom online, with people making the famous 'ships, or interchanging the genders of the main characters. I'm about to watch the second episode.

Oh indeed, its popularity was sudden and beyond any expectation. As I recall, it temporarily outsold the other major manga series combined by quite a large margin. Little wonder it suffered from Sword Art Online syndrome.

I do recall the huge phenomenon that was Sword Art Online. Never really watched it, but I do remember it being supremely popular.

I'm on episode 889, and I started in May

Huzzah, another one! That is a pretty good pace you are at. Episode 889 is during the Reverie, yes? I remember people going insane when the equivalent manga chapters released.

Speaking of, for those caught up, I have noticed the anime has been 'jumping the gun' on a lot of manga reveals in recent episodes, notably
Zoro's Haki and Yamato's appearance and flashback to Ace.
I wonder if it is a new thing they are trying as a way of compensating for the sluggish pacing of the anime compared to the manga. I am not sure how I feel about it, some of the reveals are very early compared to the manga, and in far less dramatic circumstances.

Haha, if you knew some other facts, you'd say it wasn't that much of a good pace. I didn't watch it evenly.

One time, I watched 100 episodes in a week, then I did 100 episodes in 5 days, then I did 100 episodes in 3 days. And I believe just 2 weeks ago, I did 100 episodes in 2 days, and when I don't watch, I don't watch for like a week. A pretty erratic pace, to be honest.

But yes, since I said my previous post here, I am now on 890, just starting the Wano Country Arc. Can't wait to see the animation. I've heard from spoilers and a few clips that there was a different animator, but from what I've seen, the animation can get insanely good at some points in the arc.
