I viewed every single piece of DBZ faster than expected. I'm now viewing Dragonball GT. Yes, I know it sucks and isn't canon; but it is more or less an AU that happened because it exists. Plus its only 64 episodes + 1 movie. I'll be ready for Dragonball Super soon. Not sure if I'll even bother with Kai if its the same story, but I hear its a superior dub overall.

Having been away for a week and had my torrent box die a death in the meantime I'm only now just catching up on the end of last season. Still got a couple to finish off, will give more thoughts when I do.

I don't think I've ever seen a series fall off a cliff as rapidly as spider isekai did. It went from a 8/10 series to like a 5/10 due to those three or so awful battle episodes which were the worst thing I've seen in terms of design, animation and directing since the second season of Kemono Friends that we don't talk about.

Super Cub was a really enjoyable series, solid 8 for me. I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level was utterly insubstantial but I'm a sucker for cute low stakes nonsense so it's a 7.5 for me.

I just watched Akira for the first time on Netflix. It definitely lives up to its reputation as a landmark for Japanese animation, science fiction and the cyberpunk genre. It's clearly a product of the time but the animation holds up better than a lot of recent anime that I've seen, and the soundtrack and backgrounds are brilliant as well. Plot wise, it wasn't really what I was expecting. I don't know why, but not knowing a great deal about the film before watching it, I had sort of expected a film with a less epic and more personal scale; something like Blade Runner meets Mad Max. I did enjoy it, though, and wholly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

if you get a chance, I highly recommend reading the source manga. The anime is only the first third of the story, and the ending is different.

I just finished Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway on Netflix, and I liked most of what it had to offer.
I think the animation was a bit uncanny at times, but overall I'm excited to see more; I was a bit surprised to see some pretty obvious product placement here and there, but I digress.

my understanding of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki from the 3 episodes i've watched is that it is an interesting concept marred by flat characterization and horrible pacing (the worldbuilding actually isn't horrible it's just very hit-or-miss)
i should have just kept my pledge never to watch another isekai but i was lured in by the idea of fixing a kingdom through economic and administrative/cultural reform

I prefer my anime simple and straight. Something that I can, at least partially relate to. And gay characters, albeit secondary, does not exactly serve this purpose to me.
