Do you know what's a really great anime? Majokko Megu-chan. It turned 45 on April 1st apparently. It still really holds up if you haven't seen it.

Nope, after the first 8 episodes it sucks.

She is very good at making characters and writing interactions, but neither of her other major works are episodes serials. Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 have more in common with the slice of life genre.

Well, there is Maison Ikkoku, but it's kinda the series that popularized obnoxious misunderstandings within romance anime. You know, person A does something that can be easily explained, but person B takes that event and jumps to the furthest possible conclusion, they argue and have a falling out, and then make up and become friends again without actually getting together, repeat ad infinitum et nauseum.

Never finished inuyasha, but I got around to the near end, but stopped right at the final arc. It was a good show imo, but suffered with having really good points being spread to thin around the show. The one story arc I despised and ultimately made me drop it was the mountain arc (cant remember its name but those who got that far would know what im talking about). That arc was ludicrously long, to the point where your screaming "pick it up already!" And thats where the show mainly ran dry for me. I like long drawn out animes, but that was simply to much. Story development is great for a show, but overdone can make it run dry to fast (like Naruto, whos power system broke thanks to it being drawn out for so long). Inuyasha deals with the reverse, to little development, to which it really killed any investment in the show.

The Rumic Theater Anthology is my favorite Takahashi work...because it doesn't require a single coherent story.

The animation budget is almost always running low on the majority of shows, it's just that you don't notice it because they try to hide that fact by making the art as pretty as possible and utilizing as much panning shots and limited mouth movement as possible.

In this case the only reason you notice it is because Dororo is a very animated and action heavy show.

Turns out the budget is fine. This episode was, for some inane reason, directed by Osamu Kobayashi. If the name doesn't ring a bell, he's the guy who gifted the world with episode 4 of Gurren Lagann. How the fuck are people still hiring this clown?

Because he also directed Beck and Nana, which means he has a lot of friends in Madhouse and Mappa.

He's a good director if you're going for subtle realism (Beck and Nana are utterly fantastic), not so much for action and comedy.

I have completed watching these animes with subtitles on KissAnime. I am on a streak right now:

  • Legend of the Galactic Heroes (not going to watch Die Neue These)
  • Gundam 0081, 0083, F91, 08th MS Team, and Thunderbolt
  • Any Patlabor material (the OVA, TV Show, New Files, and the first movie)

The animation is quite lacking, has good material though to base it self on. I don’t think many think its bad more so disappointing compared to that flashy first season.

Watching Demon Slayer (I cant remember its japaneese name at all), for a new season with little knowledge of its background, I took a shot at it hearing it was good. I was pleased with the results of the first 3 episodes out so far.

I'm a sucker for details in animation. The Patlabor movies from the 90s are the best.

Yup. Just recently saw the first movie and I've heard good things about the more political-oriented second one. I am going to watch other works Mamoru Oshii has to offer.
