Yeah, I'm one of the weirdos who slugs through it every time I rewatch the series.

Tbh, I don't know how people would be able to go through re-watching all of endless 8 again.
I certainly wouldn't be in the mood to re-watch it.

You pick up a lot of interesting things. The redubbed it every episode, so there are subtle differences in delivery even when a lot of the lines are identical.

Yeah, I could definitely tell that. It was quite subtle, but it was noticeable, in my case. I guess that is another thing I can appreciate about it.

But in all seriousness, it was quite interesting. Repetitive, but interesting. I don't know how to feel about it, but it was quite the experience. It was definitely some sick humour from the creators, which I must congratulate them on. I now understand what people mean when it is a tough pill. I will admit, it did start dragging out by the 5th part, and I did want it to end. Despite this, I did enjoy it, strangely enough (It was probably the animation, and Kyon's sister going: "Kyon, the phones ringing.")

I do, however, feel sorry for those who must've watched this arc when it first aired. Waiting for the next episode to air, seeing it air, wait again, seeing it again. I do wonder what the forums at the time were like? It must've been incredibly hectic.

Anyways, I'm off to finish the rest of the season. I'll probably watch the movie and the other series later.

Welcome, brother. You have survived Endless Eight with your sanity intact. Unfortunately there is no free T-Shirt, but the reward will come when you watch the glorious movie.

As for the spin-off series, it is purely optional. I watched it a couple weeks back and thought it was worth the watch, though I never plan on seeing it again (unless they make another season, I guess).

I see you have also added Haruhi to your flag, making it immediately 100 times better.

I actually haven't watched a lot of anime recently. I mostly read manga and light novels nowadays.

But since you asked, the last one I watched was Rakudai Kishi and Gakusen Toshi Asterisk.

Both were meh imo, but I definitely preferred Rakudai.

Well, I'm sure the movie will be much better than a free Haruhi T-shirt.

When you put the spin-off series like that, I get a feeling it might be another endless 8 (oh, please no, I don't want to go through that again).
I was initially thinking that with 'The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya' when I saw how many parts there were. However, I've just seen the first part, and glad that it isn't going to be another endless 8. I quite enjoyed that episode as well.

Well, I've had this flag before I watched endless 8, but yeah, Haruhi shall make everything 100 times better for the season 2 trading cards.

I wouldn't really compare The Disappearance of Yuki Nagato to Endless 8, I just didn't personally care for it as much as Melancholy of Haruhi (meaning I'm bitter they made the spin-off instead of just continuing the main story). But I will say nothing else to avoid spoilers.

For maximum enjoyment, I recommend finishing Melancholy of Haruhi, then watching the Disappearance of Haruhi movie, then, if you so choose, going on to the Disappearance of Yuki.

I've hands down believe I found my favourite episode of all time: The Adventure of Mikuru. It was so hilarious! The animation quality, the acting, and that intro. My goodness, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at an anime op. Yeah, that's on my top 10 intro list right there. Anyways, that was that episode done. Next was the School festival.

To be honest, I thought it was going to be a nice relaxing episode where they'd all just have fun... and I was right. Everyone was doing their own thing. However, one thing that surprised me was the song that Haruhi sung: God knows. Now, I knew and heard that song before on YouTube. That was how I knew of Haruhi in the first place many years back. It was one of the songs, along with Hare Hare Yukai that I even heard about this show. However, back then I thought this show was some sort of musical or band show, where every episode was just a music video, of some sort. I've really come a long way from those times about what I thought Haruhi was, to what I know about it now. (Although, having knowledge about endless 8 would've helped).

Anyways, back on track. I honestly thought that this music piece would of been in the movie. That was my guess at least. But overall, it was a very enjoyable episode.

Oh, and Itsuki has overthrown Kyon to be my new favourite character.
The Adventure of Mikuru is what convinced me.

God Knows is such a good song. Are you watching the dub or the sub? I ask because they actually sang an English version of the song in the dub.

Now, when Haruhi first aired and most of the episodes were not in chronological order, The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00 was actually the first episode aired.

Well currently sub. I always make it a priority to view an anime in dub form as a first or second round of watching (although, I may skip endless 8 in this case... well, actually I might watch the first two parts, then skip to the end).

But anyways, I'm a little surprised by that. I mean sure, I should of expected that, these shows are usually dubbed. However, I never even knew that this song was dubbed. I've only heard the Japanese version, but I didn't even know there was an English version.

Really? I've heard about the episode order mix-up, but I wouldn't actually imagine this to be an actual first episode. I wonder what people would be thinking if they thought this was the first episode?

So I just finally got around to watching Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, and it was fantastic! I am super hyped for the movie coming out later this year.

I've heard about that show. I might plan on watching it, but after I'm done with 'The Disappearance of Yuki Nagato.

Oh, and if you want to know what I thought about the movie: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, or how I like to call it: Kyon goes crazy for two hours (well, he only went crazy around the 10 or 20 minute mark), well.... it definitely played on my emotions. In other words: THAT MOVIE WAS AWESOME!

Man, I never felt so bad for Kyon until I watched the movie. My heartstrings were pulling by it. The whole plot in general.... and Yuki. My goodness, Yuki. I never felt so drawn towards her until now. Heck, I didn't even survive the emotional pain with her. Her personality here was something that me naturally like her 100 times more than I already did (it was already high to begin with). Also, that part were Kyon returned that slip to her....I died, man. That just hurt.

Overall, this has got to be one of the best movies I've seen. The relationships Kyon forged with everyone, and the climax were just one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen. I just love it!
I think this movie made up for the last episode of the series, which I will admit, did feel like a filler more than anything. Damn, I'm just craving more of the series now, which I've sort of got with the spin-off series.

Oh, and about the spin-off series, I actually really enjoyed that as well from what I've seen of it (i'm at around episode 6 now). I'm really enjoying this version of Yuki, and actually like the new art style they've taken with this (although, I know this is a new company and not Kyoto Animation doing this series). To be honest, I think this is a show I'd probably watch again. I just absolutely love it, as well.

Anyways, I think that's me with the Haruhi series when I finish the spin-off. I'll probably watch the whole series sometimes later with the dub (however, I'm skipping endless 8, with maybe the exception of the first and last part). I may look into the light novels, but overall, I quite enjoyed it and will probably move on to something new.

Now watching "Cells at Work" which is very informative. For example, I had no idea that when a white blood cell takes a red blood cell out on a date, the stomach is a popular place to go. I also had no idea how cute platelets are, until now. I also just got done watching Hinamatsuri and a really liked it. I was expecting (and got) a comedy, but also got a story along with it that was sad, and sometimes touching in spots. Also, normally, when characters in an anime have special powers, the story often revolves around the powers and they are used as a plot device. In this anime however, they almost forget about those powers after the second episode, and as they do play in from time to time afterwards (including the last episode), the series does a good job of not becoming dependent on it.

I liked the spin-off, but the episodes without Haruhi (i.e. most of the episodes) just felt lifeless compared to the original show. I mean, I like Yuki, but I like Haruhi much, much more.

I really enjoyed the dubs of both shows, but I cannot speak to their accuracy/comparative quality as I did not watch the sub yet (I'm too lazy to read every anime I watch, so I usually just default to dub).

I decided to read the Light Novels using the Kindle E-Books, which is the cheapest way to get them without having to order some old, worn out copies that might not survive shipping. So far, I'm on the third book. While I have enjoyed them so far, they are so similar to the anime that I might recommend skipping ahead in the novels so that you don't waste money/time reviewing what you have already seen (unless you, like me, just loved the series so much you had no problem retreading ground).

Yeah, to be honest, the more I got into the series, the more it started becoming noticeable that something was missing. That being, as you've said, Haruhi.
Anyways, I've finished the second-to-last episode. I'm going to watch the final episode after posting this. It was quite a short ride, to be honest. I do want more out of this, but I'll probably take your offer on trying out the E-Books. I do have a curiosity on knowing what happens afterwards.

So with that, comes my final farewell to Haruhi Suzumiya anime. I wish there was more.

EDIT: Oh, well this is a pleasant surprise. I just discovered something, and I'm not sure if you know this, but I just found out, while I was both searching YouTube and reading the wikipedia article about the show, that they made another spinoff called: Haruhi-chan Suzumiya. There's 25 whole episodes to it! I feel like I've been blessed at obtaining this knowledge. Although it is a parody, and not really considered canon from what I can tell, but screw that! It's more Haruhi! Well, I know what I'm doing after watching Yuki.

I did actually know about Haruhi-chan, but I found out about it after I had already started a couple other shows. It's next up on my watch list. Thanks for the reminder though.

If you do decide to skip what's already been covered in the books, then I recommend checking out https://www.reddit.com/r/Haruhi/ which I'm pretty sure has a guide for reading the books.

Edit: Actually I just found a guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/2pt9b5/haruhi_holiday_rewatch_day_24_final/cmztvvx/

Long story short, there are a couple stories from Book 5 (The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya) that were not adapted, but the first book to have absolutely nothing adapted from it was Book 7 (The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya).
