There are a lot of Visual Kei bands, so I'm not sure which one(s) in particular you found as an example. Some musicians that spring to mind for me include Minpha, Pitty from Morrigan, Mia from Mejibray, Lion from Fesfe[M]. Kaya, Hizaki, etc. Outside of Visual Kei, Kaoru Oshima, Aoi Kamo/Aonyan, Yuuuri15, 小A辣, Angela Lee, Re;nonリノン, Rei01181, SoU, as well as cosplayers like Nonomy, Momoharu/100hal, and some others I can't remember off the top of my head. Also, Alice Weiniang group (Chinese cosplayer group), Xiao Can, Quan Xiao Yao Nenniang, etc.

Hideyoshi Kinoshita is the boy the world needs, but not the one it deserves.Nea Videssos wrote:
Well, I can show you plenty of androgynous men in real life. Just look at pretty much any Visual Kei band, for starters.
... now you're making me interested in listening to them.

Since you mentioned Hideyoshi, here's Momoharu (who I already mentioned) cosplaying as him:East Ustya wrote:Ehhh, mind blown.....
Well, I've been a bit obsessed with traps over the past few years, so I've ended up finding quite a lot on the internet.

Well, I was citing more particularly feminine looking examples of androgynous men on account of my fondness for them, but yeah, pretty much every Visual Kei band is full of musicians that are at least somewhat androgynous (be they more recognisably male, or more like traps).

Ehhhh, I do not think androgynous are feminine.
Being cute does not make you any less of a man than some jock.

Well, the term androgynous (andro/male and gyne/female) itself literally means being a mix of feminine and masculine in appearance. It can obviously vary a fair bit, more one way than the other, indeterminate, etc...

Well, that's the definition of the term we're using, anyway. Of course, how people perceive things to be feminine, masculine, androgynous, (these things not being set in stone, for instance some things now considered feminine used to be considered masculine) etc, is probably going to be influenced by culture, society, etc...
Might be getting a bit off topic, though, and I don't think too much about the complexities of definitions and social interpretations of appearance, gender and all that stuff. I just enjoy seeing pretty people, be they male, female, whatever...

I just hate to be labeled as feminine.

There are indeed very effeminate men out in the world today.
In fact, pretty sure there's an effeminate man dating website.
I personally wish more masculine, realistic men and women were in anime. I feel anime is at it's best when it's subtle.
Like Nichijou. No, really. While the characters are somewhat silly looking, their proportions are such that their designs seem natural and downplayed compared to a lot of other anime of it's same calibre, which makes the times when it goes off the rails all the more hilarious.
The weirdest character is the one with blue hair, and she's not even supposed to be the weird one.
Effeminate?
I said ANDROGYNOUS.
