Gundam Twilight Axis

I wasn't expecting anything, and yet I still came out disappointed.

Episode 1 was so much worse than I thought it was going to be. Like, I don't think the people behind it understand what things like setup or pacing are. I've read about half of the LN, and there's enough material in it to make it a 1-3 episode OVA, so why they're handling it like this is beyond me.

Most of my friends who watch anime really enjoyed it... some got turned off by the hypersexuality of it, but it just bored me. I watched half of it and I've temporarily dropped it because I would like to finish it to see what made it appealing to people...

LWA is good, and it just finished.

I can think of several 'recent' series that aired in the past year I thought were very good, despite problems: Dragon-maid, Flip Flappers, Hibike Euphonium, Your Name, Space Patrol Luluco, Konosuba, Rakugo Shinju, to name a few. I've heard great things about Quanzhi Gaoshou, and plan to watch that soon.

Of course, the whole "DAE ITT think all modern anime is trashhhh?" meme is going to continue endlessly regardless of what comes out, just like every "ugh everything modern is trash" meme in every medium.

a) Kobayashi was: 1) last season, 2) very good. Kyoani is the master of going beyond moe CGDCT and really breathing life into their shows. Dragonmaid was a heartwarming look at family dynamics and what that means for those involved, wrapped in a lovely fantasy shell.

b) Really? Clockwork has been getting railed by almost everyone else in the community.

I know some people who like it as a "So bad it's good" kinda deal, as in a: "This show is so trash, it transcends what it means to be trash." I guess kinda the same way I 'like' Akashic Records. Just so bad it's enjoyable to watch for how cliche it is.

I have. I literally mentioned one show that just finished in the post you quoted. In terms of shit that aired this year that isn't shit the list is actually rather high compared to most years. There's LWA which I alreayd mentioned as was a brilliant show. Other examples, For winter KonoSuba S2, Maid-Dragon and Youjo Senki, and Kemono Friends were all good shows. Admittedly this season was slightly sparser, besides LWA, the only thing I enjoyed was ID-0 which has been a fun ride. Yes those shows are a fraction of what's airing and most of the rest is garbage but that's the case pretty much every season.

Started Re:Creators yesterday, mostly cause I saw the OP and it looked cool. Though the concept didn't exactly excite me particularly. Nevertheless, having almost caught up, I'm pleasantly surprised. Animation and soundtrack is lovely, and while the first few episodes were a bit of a slog (mostly because the plot didn't really go anywhere), I found it got a lot better after Kanoya was introduced. Action is good of course, especially episode 10(?).

Characters imo are a bit of a weak point for the show. The main cast specifically. They're all reasonably likesble, but don't seem to have recieved the same level of initial development as the villains. Though it seems Sota's character arc is next, so maybe that'll change.
