Or how about the fact that Vento Aureo is the most popular part overseas and is probably one of the best parts in the entire series?

Not wanting to watch a show even though you liked it before because you don't like how a main character looks (despite the fact he has one of the least flashy outfits in the series up to that point) isn't really a good reason though.

And go to Hell everyone involved in this travesty of a movie. They've turned it into a generic revenge movie. Last I checked, that's not what the original movie was about!

The original film also deviates a lot from the manga, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

But you see, they actually did something new and unique with the film (The philosophical and scientific meaning of humanity in a world that's becoming more and more integrated with technology), while the live action movie's shaping up to be a generic revenge film with some elements of GITS.
I mean, the 95 movie isn't very good from a story telling standpoint, but from a cultural, philosophical, and technical standpoint, it's brilliant.

I thought it was a little weak, actually. Way too hyped perhaps, but I was not impressed with the cultural and philosophical side.

Ok, philosophical side's subjective.
However, the cultural side is not, GITS is one of the only reasons we actually have anime companies working with the Western markets. Denying it's cultural impact is denying a pivotal part of anime history in the West.

Right now my prediction is that we're getting a movie that's going to be pretty much identical to the RoboCop reboot of a few years back. Only without a Samuel L Jackson hosted talk show on Fox News to carry the film.New haven america wrote:Ok, philosophical side's subjective.

Okay to start off here, I love GitS. The Manga is good, the movies are good. The first movie is one of maybe 3 or 4 Anime that I think of as films I recommend rather than Anime that I recommend. But stating that's its only of the only reasons we have Anime companies doing stuff in the west is ridiculous.
