my favorite manga. by far the best piece of art i've ever consumed. what a classic. it's such a shame we never got an adaptation that wasn't the golden age arc.

I got absolutely hooked on the story, and its ambience and tone, so I planned on reading the manga, but lack of time and money were an obstacle. Years passed, and I still got almost obsessed by Miura's art, until recently I found the 1997 TV series on Netflix, which I enjoyed as well.
And shortly before finishing these series, I discovered that the Catalan translation of the entire manga is being published for the first time, starting the past June (Maximum Berserk format; 20 volumes). I can't be happier.
And yeah, the manga's quality and magic has never been surpassed by the anime adaptations.

I agree, the manga is magic. I've been looking for something with a similar quality of art and storytelling. Someone I know suggested Vagabond, but I haven't had time to check it out

vagabond is great, but permanently unfinished. fist of the north star is also really great, and if you're into video games then god of war is basically just a western version of berserk.

That's sad to hear Vagabond is incomplete. I will have to look into Fist of the North Star. iirc it was an inspiration for a lot of modern animes?

United States of the Grand American Union Republic
In a world full of revolutions, civil wars, secessionists, and rising world tensions every year, the United States of America, having survived a 2nd American Civil War and another American Revolution has garnered to use its power to prevent worldwide chaos. With degrading relations with the Russian SFSR and the PRC each year, it is unknown when would the next global war would start.

I hadn't really watched anime for like a year, year and half but now I've watched over 30 episodes of Ranma in the last few days (not on vacation by the way). I hadn't previously watched the series despite loving the manga (and having read it several times) because it's so long but it's great. Couple surprise notes are that the soundtrack is much better than most anime and Shampoo is much funnier in the anime than the manga for some reason.

I prefer Takashi stuff in manga form. The anime versions of her shows all have the same issue: Way too long, way too much filler.
