Ah, but seriously, Jim Sterling has made a second response to Extra Credit about the cost of video games and microtransactions.
I wanted to ask, what do YOU guys think?
Yeah... Extra Credit is full of shit, IMO. I usually enjoy their videos but they're being inadvertent shills.

Extra credits are good people, but I very much disagree with them on the loot box.

The fact that Manhunt and Manhunt 2 are AO rated killed any chances of them being released digitally through Steam. Steam won't sell AO-rated games.
They need remastered versions but I don't think Rockstar wants to do that. I never play those games which is why I want to play.

Yeah, it’s a shame. It’s pretty ridiculous when you think of all of the porn games on steam that are perfectly fine for the general consumer to be able to see, but a bit too much violence? That’s crossing the line!

Anywhere Else But Here wrote:His argument is nigh on incoherent thanks to all the swearing and diversionary ranting. The first half is pretty much him conceding that all these costs exist but that doesn't matter...somehow? For instance, he was dismissive about the cost of computers and software and janitors, but he had no counterpoint there.
He's got some probably reasonable points about executive pay and shareholder profits, but his assertions about successful games from small devs are mind-bogglingly moronic and brazenly ignore what EC did not in favour of some faux-outrage about the phrase "lightning in a bottle".
It doesn't help that he's not clear what the point of the video is. Is he complaining about lootboxes or discussing the costs of games? He keeps transitioning from points about one to conclusions about the other, and vice versa. What's his conclusion? That games should cost less (his points about unethical treatment of employees seems to suggest the opposite)? That executives should be paid less? That shareholders should accept a reduction in profits? That studios should stop making high-fidelity games (his entire discussion of graphics is derailed by ranting on about some irrelevant bullshit about games having been marketed in part on the basis of excellent graphics)? He rants for a long time, picks out random examples and marketing statements, but doesn't come to a point.
tl;dr, he's probably right about some things but he's also an incoherent dick.

Yeah ive fought them before, they are frustrating at times but manageable early on.
Having to deal with High Elven full stacks coming across every 15 turns after near 60 turns of war that they wont end is also.. frustrating to put it mildly. Their soldiers are better than mine, and even with a ton of cavalry i take heavy losses beating their armies, and they invaded each time with 2-3 full stacks of soldiers. Yay!
Its that bad, Dark Elves are offering proposals for military alliances, and im having non aggression pacts with skaven. Like what the fuck is going on.

Yeah, Steam really needs to get some reality check. They allow visual novel games or interactive games which rely on nudity and porn but not with violences?
