I expect the new Call of Duty to be generic and it doesn't even sound creative since its just another World War 2 one.

It's been nearly a decade since the last WW2 CoD (I think World at War was 9 years ago) and in the current market there is only one other AAA game offering that kind of experience despite is being WW1.

Seems creative enough to me, especially from such a turn around of near future.

You don't need to fight the Capra Demon presuming you did the sensible thing and took the Master Key during character creation.

If you took anything except the Master Key, RIP.

When I made this character years ago I knew nothing of game.
Actually I did read descriptions, but for some reason I didn't pick master key.

tbh fighting the Capra Demon is worth it anyway

there's nice stuff in the Depths, like the large ember that lets you upgrade weapons to +10 and a merchant who sells boss armour (he moves to Firelink after you clear the Depths)

and you can bypass the worst part of blighttown even without the master key, it's just a pain in the ass - you need to go through Darkroot Garden, down to the bottom of Darkroot Basin, through the Valley of Drakes (and past the drakes there, said drakes being the reason it's a pain in the ass), and then you're at the secondary entrance to Blighttown.

I'm actually excited. It may be the first time I've played a COD game in a good decade. Infinite Warfare can rot in hell.

I'd play the hell out of a Big Red One remaster.

Video games are so uninspired these days that visiting the most saturated video game setting of all time is fresh and exciting if you wait ten years?

What'll be particularly creative about it anyways? Instead of "Ramirez do everything" we'll get "Jim-Bob go get thim theres Nazis with your all white companions in the name of freedom and modestly dressed wihmins."

Instead of "Terrorists are threatening America. Save everyone!" we'll get "Nazis are naziing there way around Europe. Go kill everyone so them commies don't get to them."

Instead of "These extremists require our most elite soldiers to fight" we'll get "Them funny looking Japs got them new fangled samurai swords. Go kill em in the name of apple pie and racial segregation. Try not to trip over any Nazis on the way there."

I went back to Empire at War with the Thrawns Revenge mod.

Boy, one thing i did not miss about empire at war was auto resolved ground battles.

Defending New Republic Garrison:
x1 Infantry Platoon
Turbolaser towers
Barracks
Light Factory
Shield Generator

Attacking Imperial Remnant Army (Me):
x2 AT-AT walkers
x6 AT-ST Squadrons
x2 something other heavier walker squadrons
x3 Tie Mauler squadrons
x2 Scouts
x18 Storm trooper squadrons of various types
x4 Nova Trooper squadrons (fancy black armoured soldiers)

Result: Entire invading army dies bar two squads of walkers.

So both Osiris: New Dawn and Subnautica have come out with big updates, and The Long Dark's timer for what is believed to be the story mode release is now at 4 days. Looks like I will no longer have any free time for quite awhile.

I honestly expect it to be typical shitty Call of Duty mechanics, just this time in World War 2.

I wish people would make more Alt-history games based around a similar time period to ww1/ww2, it would have some familiarity but also add in some new stuff that could be refreshing, say instead of being a US soldier fighting against the Germans in 1944, you are an Italian City State soldier fighting against an invading Authoritative French Empire in 1923, and for good measure throw in some more fantastical elements like more advanced giant airships kitted out with a ton of weapons or have a mix of older and more futuristic war equipment.

Im mainly wanting that though because thats the stuff i have stuck in my head and plan on working on some art relating to that when i finish up Uni.

I'm happy with Battlefield 1 and Verdun. Rising Storm 2 Vietnam looks promising, but I wish one of the big franchises would do a Korea.

See, what you do is you mass-produce a gigantic army. Just throw numbers at shit when it comes to ground battles. A lot of things will turn to fodder a lot of the time. At some point you have shittons of unit slots available and you can easily produce giant armies to just overwhelm the stuff. Empire At War isn't too incredible when it comes to ground battles anyway.

I wasn't a fan of Battlefield 1. I thought it was going to be trench warfare, and allow more player to be able to fly planes, and tanks, but instead, it turned out to be yet another "run and gun" where you had 1 plane in the sky and 2 tanks on the ground. Very disappointing in my opinion...

Yeah that is generally my plan now, just spam a fuck huge army in repeated attacks on a planet. Still results in my defeat like half the time but fuck it, ground battles can be boring pain some times.

And some of the new maps in the mod are fucking infuriating, there is one i fought earlier, which has three top sections, as it were divided by a massive ravine you cant cross, unless you go into this narrow corridor multi tiered urban part in the middle, which really fucks up things like AT-AT's trying to go down them. And the place was just full of turbo lasers, i think 80% of my army i lost on that map died on one corner, where my units could go down by say one or two squads at a time (and could only shoot enemy units whilst on this corner), in front of two turbo lasers and half a dozen republic tanks which just fucking slaughtered them repeatedly until i was able to bombard the spot from orbit.

Yeah ive countered far more planes and tanks in BF1 in most battles than that, depends on the maps and game modes.

I need to get back into it and get the French DLC at some point (France still should have been in the fucking base game by the way, US army would have been perfect for DLC, not the fucking French)

That's why when you begin a ground battle, you need to drop your units at the reinforcement point, and just sit their while waiting for your bomber squads and bombardment powers.

Coruscant is actually one of the fucking worst maps they have. I mean holy shit it's like one of the most recognizable planets, but don't go all in.

But yeah, if you're trying in ground battles, you're trying too hard.

For COD? Yeah, honestly, all their best games are WW games (Specifically all current COD WWII game, and the Modern Warfare series).

Think so yeah.

Man i miss COD: Big Red One, such a good game.

I wished that for the new ww2 game they would have went back to the old style of multiple national campaigns, US, UK, Soviet etc. Maybe even throw in some less covered ones like COD3 did with the Canadians and Polish.

I'm actually replaying it right now.

Currently on the French/Belgian border.
