It just so happened that down the street was a shop that would buy these same items (no connection, of course) at a fixed rate.

I liked the opening to BF1 because it gave you a perspective of war as being terrible and not just a game. The game, in a way, tells you "Have fun playing this, but remember to have respect and know that war is terrible in real life".
