One thing I've never understood about Dark Souls is why are forest hunters dark spirits instead of spirits of vengeance.

You call that a computer? If it doesn't have exactly 13 Titan V's, it's worthless.

I’m thinking about getting a new console, but I’m torn between the PS4 and X-Box One S (I’m on a budget.)

I already own a PS2 and a PS3, but I might trade in the latter if I get the PS4, as I don’t have any PS3 games, and my mom bought it for me so I could use a driving simulator and I was just never interested enough o buy actual games for it. I still do play my PS2 on occasion, though.

I like JRPGs, especially turn-based tactical ones, as well as 4X empire building games, but I don’t know what either console offers in either of those..

I do own a Wii and a 3DS, as well. I do have a PC but it’s not that good for gaming, and there are some Steam games I really want to play.

You'll find more JRPGs on the PS4 than XOne. I can't name any 4X game on either.

For me, the only real downside of the PS4 is that I can’t play Halo. I have never played any Halo game that wasn’t at a friend’s house or multiplayer, but the PS4 seems better for me overall. X Box One’s Blue Ray is nice, but I can live without it.

After spending most of the evening continually running from some griefers in Worlds Adrift, my friend and I decided to escape across the sand wall into the badlands. Shockingly it didn't quite go as bad as we expected except that it actually went a lot worse. All of our engines died (The interior ones first oddly enough) but beyond that we only had minor damage to the wings and the sails. (We had deployed them after losing all our engines as we figured we had nothing to lose) We had put our valuable fuel and metals onto our belts so we could abandon ship and respawn on a nearby island when we came out the other side. We headed straight for the nearest island were we were promptly set upon by another ship who demanded a landing fee of 200 fuel. Ordinarily we wouldn't have paid but we really didn't have much of a choice at that point. Plus their demands were reasonable. (Unlike some pirates who demanded 1000 fuel from us the other day while sitting on an island covered in fuel. Needless to say we turned tail and ran. ) It's always refreshing to run into people in Worlds Adrift who realize that there's more to PVP than blindly attacking every other ship you run across.

Clearly character limit for character names in Dark Souls is too short because I couldn't fit name "There_are_some_who_call_me_Tim" for a pyromancer.

Luckily there is enough space for a straightsword+greatshield character named Biggus Dickus.

I don't usually do this sort of almost addbot like message. But the other day I was playing this game and the one and only thought in my mind was "By god how can their forum community be that sparse for a game that good?" So yeah.

TLDR; I am a huge fan of the small unit tactical RTS genre and some time ago I ran into this gem: https://ufoai.org
And I've found it to be so enjoyable I have to share it with everyone. If you are a fan of X-Com in any of its incarnations you'll be a fun of this. And it's free.

Also can anyone recommend any other games in the genre I could check out? I already own Silent Storm (all 3 parts), X-COM (original, all versions), the UFO series (all 3 games) and the new X-COM series. And that seems to largely be the extent of this genre sadly.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

I don’t think XCOM can really be described as RTS, but I get what you’re saying.

Invisible Inc. is a stealth turn based strategy with procedurally generated maps. All of your characters die in one hit and getting spotted leads to every enemy attempting to overwhelm you, so if you mess up, you mess up bad.
I absolutely adore that game.

Into The Breach. It’s like XCOM but mecha chess, and the chesspieces punch each other into chasms. It’s much more focused on positioning and has only one diceroll mechanic, so ITB is purely skill.

Massive Chalice... it’s an okay game, I suppose. Not as good as the above two. The best part is the marriage mechanic. The game takes place over hundreds of years, so in order to keep playing you must marry your heroes together so they raise a child and pass on their skills. The combat is fine, but I personally get bored of it about halfway through a game.
