Does anyone else get the feeling that Verdun's sequel (Tannenberg) is extremely different gameplay wise than its predecessor. I was trash at Verdun, but I'm doing really well in Tannenberg.

I haven't gotten it yet, but from what I hear from people I used to play Verdun with, it's pretty different in some ways.

Apparently it doesn't have the trenches that you see in Verdun?

It's so funny to me because one of my friends loves to play it with me, but rages so much, and his fits are hilarious.

I can only play BF3, and on the PS3. It can be fun, but like I'm bad or below competent, at least when the game's normal. Like huge maps and such, vehicles and no holds barred except bought-server rules that are usually not too bad at all. When the map's shrunk and it gets COD-esque I do better, I'd say I'm at the Decent level, maybe I get above that. A server opened up a couple times where the fighting went on forever in the map with the two airfields and that big tower that eventually comes down on the map, and the guy had it shrunk down to the buildings and a little bit of countryside in the very northeast corner. The fighting was pretty interesting there, and sometimes I could be an actual badass.

That one map with the tunnel and it's like a mining operation or whatever, that one can piss me right the fuck off. Sometimes the enemy ass-rapes you at an area at one end of the tunnel and you can't do jack-shit about it. There's the Metro station map or whatever where that can happen, but there's multiple avenues where you can try to get around the enemy and change things up, so at least that one's actually kinda fair. I can never get a chance to really get any hang on the fighter jets, and even my helicopter handling is poor, whereas in GTA V I'm always in the sky. I could have had my flying rank maxed four times over or more while my driving rank was still going up in GTA V.

Times when I actually feel elation from the game is when the fighting is back and forth or when I'm doing hot as a Medic. It's fun being a Medic for some reason. Throwing down heals in a hotspot and reviving dead people just so they can get blasted again as endless fodder. I was a Healer in DCUO too. I stopped playing DCUO though, and I don't play Battlefield anymore either. One, I need to find the CD. Two, I think playing it made my controller all wonky or something. All those years of COD and I suddenly play lots of the opposing FPS game.

Not really. The pain of installing the PS1 emu and then the game and then configuring the controls...

It's almost easier to code your own emulator.

In real life, the Battles of Tannenburg and the Masurian Lakes were battles of motion, and there wasn't a huge amount of trench warfare in the war until after the First Battle of the Marne. :p

What pain are you talking about? Even I could do it in like 10 minutes and I'm hopeless with technology. My know-how is basically limited to "double click on an icon to run a program" anything more complicated and I'm all "what is this sorcery".

what are you talking about

epsxe takes like 10 minutes to set up
and another 5 to do the keybindings for a controller
and installing games on it boils down to "put ISO wherever you want, point epsxe at the relevant disc image, boom"

it's downright trivial to get running jfc

Trenches were less important on the eastern front.

Got a Spy super salty using only the 'g' button, the iron bomber, a reskin of sticky bomb launcher, and a sign.

Killed him lots of times, but still says I'm "Bad" and a "try hard".

He then left the server.

Sometimes people call me bad at the game when I kill them repeatedly. One time a guy accused me of camping as pyro because I kept killing him, but I was moving across the map and just happened to run into him a lot. I even killed him in different places so that is a completely erroneous thing to say.

What happened to the good old days, when you could just kite around their incredibly slow melee animation and shoot them in the back with whatever?

Have you done the achievement for knocking them into the ocean? That’s a rough one.

Not even close to that mission yet, was having issues on the blue squad mission.

When playing Napoleonic Wars I make it my primary goal to grab a rifle and pick off enemy artilleryman and sappers.
The fact that I suck in melee has nothing to do with it of course.
